Michael J. Heider, age 64, of Carroll, Iowa, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at his residence in Carroll. Funeral Services will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday, October 9, 2010, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. Officiating will be Father Timothy Schott. Lectors will be Mike’s brothers, John Heider, Thomas Heider, Stephen Heider, and Patrick Heider. The Christian Symbols will be placed by is daughter, Mary Blazier, and sisters, Mary Gerken, Susan Prendergast, Barbara Danielson, and Nancy Feste. Casket Bearers will be Greg Siemann, Phil Collison, Dave Staiert, Pat Lenz, Dale Schlichte, and Virgil Lappe. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll beginning at 11 A.M. Saturday until the time of the funeral service. Mike was born on March 14, 1946, at Carroll, Iowa, the son of John J. and Mary R. (Duncan) Heider. He attended St. Lawrence School and graduated from Kuemper High School in 1964, and then attended Iowa State University in Ames. In May 1983 he was married to Anna DeVivo in Woodstock, Illinois. Mike’s work career was spent as a supervisor for agriculture fertilizer companies. He was employed primarily by the Monsanto Corporation in Georgia, Arkansas, Illinois, and Minnesota and the last years by the BMG Environmental Company of Boone. He returned to Carroll in 2005. Mike enjoyed his family, especially his granddaughter, Lacy, and spending time at Swan Lake State Park in Carroll. Survivors include his daughter, Mary Blazier and husband Charles of Beloit, Wisc.; his granddaughter, Lacy Blazier; his father, John Heider of Carroll; sisters, Mary Gerken and husband John of Shakopee, Minn., Susan Prendergast and husband Tom of Rochester, Minn., Barbara Danielson and husband Mark of Richardson, Texas, and Nancy Feste and husband Scott of Naperville, Ill.; his brothers, John Heider and wife Susan of Charlotte, North Carolina, Thomas Heider and wife Helen of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Stephen Heider and wife Michelle of North Barrington, Ill., and Patrick Heider and wife Susan of St. Louis, Missouri; and by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Heider, in August 2009; and by his grandparents, Henry and Frances Heider and James and Pauline Duncan.
