Michael E. Sullivan, age 74, of Carroll, Iowa, died Sunday, December 13, 2009, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 A.M. Thursday to lie in state until the time of the funeral mass. Lector will be Christie Whitaker. Gift Bearers will be daughters, Pam Sullivan and Paula Riesberg. Casket Bearers will be Scot Foster, David Foster, Jimmy Foster, Roger Klocksiem, Jim Hall, and Wyatt Klocksiem. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. Wednesday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 P.M. Wednesday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Wednesday by Holy Spirit Parish. Mr. Sullivan was born on August 23, 1935, at Sioux City, Iowa, the son of Charles C. and Celeste “Babe” (Kelley) Sullivan. He spent his younger years in the Manning community and in 1943 his family moved to Carroll where he attended Carroll High School. On November 8, 1958, he was married to Marrie Reiff at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Mt. Carmel. Mr. Sullivan made his home in Carroll and was employed at Brenny’s Market for twelve years and at Farmland Foods Company in Carroll for twenty-three years. For the past eight years he has been manager of Power Wash East in Carroll. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. Mike enjoyed his family and friends, driving around in his truck, fishing, gambling, and going to Mass at Holy Spirit Church. Survivors include his daughters, Patty Foster and her husband Scot of Ogden, Pam Sullivan of Boone, Penny Sullivan of Omaha, Nebr., Peggy Klocksiem and her husband Roger of Glidden, and Paula Riesberg and her husband Marty of Easton, Maryland; nine grandchildren; one great grandson; a brother, Patrick Sullivan of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and a sister, Shannon Schauf and her husband Jim of Overland Park, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
