Mary Lou Becker, age 85, of Carroll, died Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at Fonda Specialty Care in Fonda, Iowa.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2018 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The celebrant will be Fr. Kevin Richter. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Lector will be Maureen Becker. Gift Bearers will be Jackie Becker and Cindy Becker. Eucharistic Minister will be Gary Becker. Casket Bearers will be Bill Becker, Ben Becker, Nick Gorden, Dennis Becker, David Becker, and Mike Headlee. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Thursday, where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m.
The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church on Friday morning where visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. and continue until the time of the funeral mass.

Born on May 24, 1932 at Perry, Iowa, Mary was the daughter of Daniel and Marion (Johnson) Headlee. At a young age the family moved to Carroll, Iowa where Mary grew up and attended school. She later graduated from Carroll High School, and then attended beauty school in Des Moines. After completing school she returned to Carroll.
On February 27, 1954, Mary was united in marriage to William G. Becker at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda. After their marriage the couple made their home in Carroll, where Mary was a devoted mother, and wife. In addition to raising her family, Mary operated a beauty salon out of her home, until her retirement in 1997.
Mary enjoyed spending time at her family’s cabin at Lake View where she enjoyed the lake, and socializing with the neighbors. She also enjoyed attending craft fairs, crocheting, attending the Iowa State Fair, and Clay County Fair, and spending time with her family especially during the weekends at the lake. As her health declined, Mary enjoyed spending time at her home, and visiting with company that would stop by. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll.
Left to celebrate Mary’s life are her daughters-in-law: Cindy Becker of Carroll, and Jackie Becker of Carroll; her grandchildren: Bill Becker of Carroll, Carrie (Nick) Gorden of Lake City, and Ben Becker of Carroll; her great-grandchildren: Emersen Gorden, Tristin Gorden, and MaKelsie Gorden; her sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law: Clarita Roth of Spencer, Phyllis Danner of Glidden, John (Marna) Becker of Afton, Jerry Becker of Glidden, Allen Becker of Perry, Gary (Maureen) Becker of Perry, Gene (Kay) Becker of Pomeroy, Eileen Becker of Des Moines, and Loa Becker of Maple River, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, her sons: Randy Becker, Bill Becker, Jeff “Spike” Becker; her siblings: Beverly (Jim) Vincent, and Robert Headlee.
