Mary Huls

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Mary Henry Huls, 72, of Coon Rapids, Iowa. Mary passed away on April 27, 2026. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at her home at 310 6th Avenue in Coon Rapids, followed by a Celebration of Life gathering until 5 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Mary's family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Memorial contributions may be sent 310 6th Avenue, Coon Rapids, Iowa 50058. Mary was born on July 12, 1953, in Boone, Iowa, to James Stephen Henry and Marjorie Ruth Henry. She grew up in Boone and attended United Community School before continuing her education at Des Moines Area Community College, where she completed the Office Assistant program. Mary moved to Gillette, Wyoming in June of 2018, where she met her future husband James Huls. Mary and James were united in marriage on January 19, 2019, in Gillette, where they resided until they moved back to Iowa. She had a lifelong love of movies- especially Western- and if she started talking about John Wayne, you knew you were in for a long, enjoyable conversation. In her younger years, she loved to travel and attend concerts. She also enjoyed hunting mushrooms and had special love for flowers. She loved listening to the Native American flute and to watch Pow-Wows on TV. In recent years, she loved connecting with others on social media and treasured every moment spent with her husband , James. Mary was cared for with extraordinary love and devotion by her husband, James, who stood faithfully by her side and provided around-the-clock care with compassion, strength and unwavering dedication. His selflessness and deep love were a true testament to their bond and brought Mary comfort and dignity in her final days. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice team, whose kindness, support and exceptional care provided comfort not only to Mary, but to all who loved her during this difficult time. Mary is survived by her husband James Huls; her son Aaron Maben; her sister Cathy Ann Henry Crees and husband Kevin of Bayard, Iowa; her brothers Robert Allen Henry of Savage, Minnesota; her uncle Harry Edwar Kitchen of Washington, Iowa; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings: Donald James Henry, John Stphen Henry and Linda Sue Henry Palmer.
