Marvin Huelsing, 80, of Maple River, died Monday, March 10, 2014 near Deloit, Iowa.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Lectors will be Jeff Thelen and Tim Gilligan. Gift Bearers will be Marvin’s niece and nephew: Joyce Kenney, and Nick Steinkamp. Eucharistic Minister will be Kenny “Whitey” Steinkamp. Casket Bearers will be Kenny “Whitey” Steinkamp, Nick Steinkamp, Lynn Wuebker, Erwin Haberl, Tim Muller, and Jay Reisberg. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Mt. Carmel.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3 p.m. on Sunday, where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 5 p.m.
The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9 a.m. Monday morning where visitation will resume until the time of the funeral mass.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be left at the funeral home or at the church for Holy Spirit Catholic Church or Kuemper Catholic Schools.

Born on August 27, 1933, at Maple River, Iowa, Marvin was the son of Tony and Frances (Becker) Huelsing. At a young age Marvin and his family moved to the Scranton area where he attended country school. After the death of his father, Marvin became an active leader for his family, including the farming operation.
On September 6, 1954 he was united in marriage to Madelyn Schloesser at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Vail. After their marriage they settled in the Scranton area for one year, before moving to the Carroll area. In 1993 the couple then moved to Maple River. Marvin farmed his entire life raising both grain and livestock, as well as trucking cattle over the years. He enjoyed his cows, fishing, and visiting with his family and friends. Marvin was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll.
Marvin is survived by his wife: Madelyn of Maple River, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Duane Steinkamp of Breda, Martin (Kay) Schloesser of Calhan, CO., Melvin (Diane) Schloesser of Casa Grande, AZ., Mary (Tim) Gilligan of Gretna, NE., Michael Schloesser of Calhan, CO., Dorothy (LeRoy) Childress of Denison, and Norman Thelen of Carroll, as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; an infant child; his sister: Delores Steinkamp, and his sister-in-law, Marleen Thelen.
