Marty Pottebaum, 61, of Carroll, and formerly of Lidderdale, died Sunday afternoon, April 13, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lector will be Jim Pottebaum. Gift bearers will be Marty’s grandchildren: Sydnie, Ethan, Ella, and Joey Pottebaum. Eucharistic Ministers will be Elaine Pottebaum, Lou Pottebaum, and Vernon Drees. Casket bearers will be Rick Pottebaum, John Pottebaum, Keith Pottebaum, Dean Riesberg, Don Halbur, and Chad Heuton. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, near Lidderdale.
Friends may call at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll, after 5 p.m. on Tuesday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at the church after 9 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the funeral mass.

Born on June 25, 1952, at Carroll, Iowa, Martin John was the son of Vernon and Eleanora (Golwitzer) Pottebaum. Martin attended I.B.S.S.S in Vinton and Briar Cliff in Sioux City. He then worked for Bournes and Crouse Cartage in Ames. On June 9, 1973 he was united in marriage to Bonnie Rotert at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lidderdale. He worked for General Electric in Carroll for 25 years, Sitel, and Market Link. He enjoyed playing cards, watching sports-especially the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes, spending time with his family, and took great pride in his grandchildren.
Marty is survived by his wife Bonnie Pottebaum of Carroll; his sons: Matthew (Kristi) Pottebaum, of Carroll, and Nick Pottebaum of Omaha; his grandchildren: Sydnie and Ethan Pottebaum of Carroll, and Ella and Joseph Pottebaum of Omaha; his sister Lois (Lonnie) Heuton of Glidden; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Marlene (Leon) Riesberg of Florence, AZ, Elaine Pottebaum of Carroll, Rayoma Rotert of Carroll, Vernon (Shirley) Rotert of Marion, and Yvonne (T.W.) Wright of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Eleanora Pottebaum, and his sister JoAnn Pottebaum.
