Mark Nobiling

Mark Alan Nobiling, 67, passed away at his home near Scranton on July 3, 2026. Mass of the Christian will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Holy Spirit Church-St. John Paul II Parish in Carroll. The Celebrant is Father Peter Pham. The Gift Bearers will be Dane Woerdehoff, Alex Humphrey, Jude Thornock and Halley Butler. The casket bearers are Alex Humphrey, Dane Woerdehoff, Sean Humphrey, Halley Butler, Danny Torgerson and Al Lohr. Private family burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday prior to the Mass at church. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for Mark’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Born in Carroll, Iowa, Mark was raised on his family's farm outside of Carroll, where he developed a lifelong love of farming, the land, and caring for animals. He later made his home in Greene County, where he continued the simple country life he cherished. Mark's faith in God was the foundation of his life. He found joy in the simple things - a walk through his orchard, tending his garden, baking cookies, or sharing the fruits and vegetables he grew with friends and neighbors. He was happiest when he could give to others. Family meant everything to Mark. He was a devoted father to Brandie Humphrey (Sean), Michael Nobiling, Sara Woerdehoff, Kirk Nobiling (Pam), and Katie Boell (Tyler). He delighted in teasing his grandchildren, making them laugh with his endless jokes, and creating memories they will treasure forever. Mark shared an especially close bond with his brother, Bryce. Every Saturday morning, he faithfully delivered donuts and cookies, a tradition that reflected the quiet, thoughtful ways he showed his love. He is also survived by his six sisters and two brothers, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss his kind heart and generous spirit. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lucille Nobiling. Mark had a passion for life and an appreciation for its many adventures. He loved family vacations, camping trips, and celebrating his favorite holiday, the Fourth of July. Fireworks brought him as much excitement as they did when he was a child. His love for Germany was unmatched. He enjoyed speaking the German language, exploring its castles, savoring its cuisine, and spending time with the friends and family he cherished there. Mark proudly represented the Britzingen Markgräflerland eG Winery in both Germany and the United States and also volunteered serving wine at the Wine Experience during the Iowa State Fair, an event he looked forward to every year. A talented dancer, Mark could light up a dance floor as easily as he could brighten someone's day with a joke. He never passed up an opportunity to tell family where to find the lowest gas prices, and he made sure everyone knew the Dairy Mart flavor of the week in Glidden. Mark also found joy in many hobbies. He was an avid coin collector, a dedicated family genealogist, and enjoyed maintaining multiple aquariums filled with colorful fish. He loved woodworking, restoring antique furniture, and crafting beautiful pieces that will remain treasured keepsakes for his children and grandchildren. He especially treasured the years he spent farming alongside his father. Those who knew Mark will remember his generosity, his sense of humor, his unwavering love for his family, and his appreciation for the simple blessings of life. His legacy lives on in the gardens he planted, the furniture he built, the traditions he created, and the countless lives he touched with kindness. And finally, as Mark would say when things didn't go as planned, "D'oh."
