Marion Bauer, age 82 of Carroll, died Saturday, November 17, 2012, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll of injuries received in an auto accident.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott. Lector will be Marion’s granddaughter, Jill Rath. Gift Bearers will be granddaughters, Kerri Ladehoff, Julie Halbur, Jacki Meiners, Leah Bauer, Margie Gruhn, Melanie Klein, and Mary Bauer. Mass Servers will be Grant Sanders, Jacob Schaefer, and Brandon Gehling. Music will be by pianist Jake Gute and the St. Lawrence Choir. Communion Ministers will be Vincent and Lenora Gross and Dale Schlichte. Casket Bearers will be grandsons, Dan Qualters, Mike Bauer, John Bauer, Justin Bauer, Kevin Meiners, Mark Meiners, Joseph Berkes, Jason Berkes, Jacob Berkes, and Jeffrey Berkes. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Maple River.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. Tuesday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 P.M. Tuesday followed by a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Tuesday by St. Lawrence Parish. Marion was born on May 6, 1930, at Roselle, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Frances (Truhe) Eischeid. She spent her younger years in the Roselle community and attended Holy Angels School. Following her formal education she helped her parents on the farm and did babysitting for local families. Marion and Melvin Bauer were united in marriage on June 14, 1948, at Holy Angels Church in Roselle. Following their marriage they lived south of Willey until 1962 when they moved to their present home four miles west of Carroll on Highway 30. From 1976 until her retirement in 2005 Marion was employed as a nutritionist at the Community Opportunities Head Start Program. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, the Audubon V.F.W. Auxiliary, and was a long time member of St. Francis Parish in Maple River where she sewed the Parish Baptismal Gowns for many years. Marion enjoyed her family, attending her grandchildren’s ball games, puzzles, reading, flowers, and making rosaries.
Marion is survived by her two sons, Joseph (Peggy) Bauer of Audubon and Dale (Jane) Bauer of Willey; two daughters, Joyce Meiners of Carroll and Denise (Joseph) Berkes of Carroll; 18 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a brother, Clifford (Jean) Eischeid of Carroll; her sisters, Ruth (Ray) Brincks of Carroll, Velma (Duane) Bueltel of Carroll, Verena (Romen) Wittrock of Carroll, Lenora (Vincent) Gross of Carroll, Janice (Duane) Neppl of Denison, Alberta (Wilfred) Meiners of Dedham, and Therese (Dale) Schlichte of Templeton; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Eischeid of Carroll.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Melvin Bauer, in April 1985; a son-in-law, David Meiners in 2005; her grandson, Scott Qualters; a brother, Marvin Eischeid; her sister, Delores Nees; a sister-in-law, Elsie Eischeid; and a brother-in-law, Walter Nees.
