Marie Heim, age 98, of Auburn, Iowa, died early Sunday, February 8, 2009, at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at St. Mary Church in Auburn. The Celebrant will be Father Lawrence McCarty. Lector will be Amanda Johnson. Christian Symbols will be placed by Nicole Larsen, David Starman, Matthew Starman, Erica Starman, Jessica Johnson, Kelsey Barton, and Katie Barton. Gift Bearers will be Sharry Barton, Annette Falor, and Dawn Koster. Mass Servers will be Cody Rolfes and Mariah Koster. Eucharistic Ministers will be Pam and Randy Starman and Bonnie Danner. Casket Bearers will be Steve Rolfes, Jason Rolfes, Randy Starman, Scott Barton, Mike Falor, and Jeff Koster. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Auburn. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. Tuesday. There will be a Christian wake service at 3 P.M. Tuesday by St. Mary Parish. A rosary will be prayed at 7 P.M. Tuesday. Mrs. Heim was born on June 27, 1910, at Auburn, Iowa, the daughter of Myron and Mae (Reynolds) Davis. She spent most of her lifetime in the Auburn community and graduated from Auburn High School. On April 10, 1928, she was married to Clarence “Mike” Heim at the Grotto of the Redemption in West Bend, Iowa, with Father Paul Dobberstein officiating. Following their marriage they made their home in Auburn where they operated Heim’s Store for many years. In later years she was employed at the Sernett Department Store in Carroll and then at Van’s Café in Auburn until her retirement. Mrs. Heim moved to Carroll in 2005. She was a member of St. Mary Parish and the Parish Altar Society. She enjoyed her family, quilting, cooking, watching golf on television, playing cards, and gardening. Survivors include her son, Donald Heim and his wife Joanne of Chattanooga, Tenn., and her daughter, Beverly Rolfes of Carroll; eight grandchildren, Pam Starman and her husband Randy of Carroll, Sharry Barton and her husband Scott of Grimes, Annette Falor and her husband Mike of Waukee, Dawn Koster and her husband Jeff of Carroll, Steve Rolfes and his wife Cathy of Council Bluffs, Jason Rolfes and his wife Janelle of Carroll, Diane Parker and her husband Chris of McDonough, Georgia, and Erin Bowles and her husband Bob of Franklin, Tenn.; eighteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence “Mike” Heim, in January 1975; a brother, Wylie Davis; and three sisters, Gladys Hawks, Viola Schug, and Lavon Johnson.
