Marcella Snyder, age 96, of Breda, Iowa, died Thursday, October 30, 2008, at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Monday, November 3, 2008, at St. Bernard Church in Breda. The Celebrant was Father Joe Dillinger. The Lector was John Wittry. Gift Bearers were grandchildren, Brenda and Kenny Riesenberg. Eucharistic Ministers were John and Marceal Wittry and Joe Grote. Casket Bearers were Dave Grabner, Chris Ludwig, Don Gerken, Bob Riesberg, LeRoy Riesberg, and Kenny Riesenberg. Burial was at St. Bernard Cemetery in Breda. Visitation was held Sunday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Breda. A memorial has been established for the St. Bernard Parish Endowment Fund. Mrs. Snyder was born on May 10, 1912, at Arcadia, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Berger) Bruening. She spent her younger years in the Arcadia community and attended St. John School. On June 16, 1942, she was married to Adrian Snyder at St. John Church in Arcadia. The couple farmed southwest of Breda their entire married life. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish and Parish Ladies Guild. Mrs. Snyder enjoyed playing cards, sewing, and gardening. Survivors include her son, Roland Snyder of Breda; a daughter, Phyllis Riesenberg and her husband Ronald of Carroll; two grandchildren, Brenda and Kenny Riesenberg; and two sisters, Irene Bruening of Carroll and Hiltrude Riesberg of Arcadia. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Adrian Snyder, in August 1974; a brother, Leonard Bruening; and a brother, Wayne Bruening, in infancy.
