Marcella “Sally” Stickrod, 89, of Carroll, died Sunday, February 2, 2014 surrounded by her family at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lectors will be Sally’s granddaughters Sarah Morales, Laura Hausman, and Randi Busch. Gift bearers will be Sally’s great-grandchildren, Jared, Jake, and Kalie Hausman. Casketbearers will be Sally’s grandchildren, Sean Stickrod, Randi Busch, Alison Stickrod, Sidney Stickrod, Tyler Busch, and Jacki Stickrod. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 from 3:30 p.m-7:00 p.m. where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 5:30 p.m. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9 a.m. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.
Memorials may be left at the funeral home and church to be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Anthony Hospice, or Iowa Hospice.

Born on January 7, 1925 in Halbur, Marcella Elizabeth was the daughter of Peter and Margaret (Potthoff) Hausman. She spent her younger years in Halbur and attended St. Augustine School. On October 27, 1948, she was united in marriage to William Stickrod at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur with Fr. H.B. Kramer officiating. The couple lived in Carroll after their marriage. Sally worked at JC Penney in Carroll until 2008.
She enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sally was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll.
Survivors include her children: Ken Stickrod and his wife Carolyn of Erie, Colorado, Kristy Busch and her husband Ted of Winnebago, Illinois, Kevin Stickrod and his wife Rosa of Glidden, and Keith Stickrod and his wife Sharon of Carroll; 10 grandchildren: Lisa, Randi, Sarah, Sean, Nathan, Alison, Laura, Sidney, Tyler, and Jacki; 11 great-grandchildren: Jasmine, Jared, Isaiah, Jacob, Kalie, Keegan, Nyle, Aubrie, Lillian, Jaxson, and Cole; two sisters: Hilda and her husband Cyril Schulte of Carroll, and Norma Schmidt of Illinois; one brother: Andy Hausman and his wife Sally of Anthem, Arizona; her in-laws: Esther Hausman of Halbur, Virginia Hausman of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Don McCormick of Churdan; as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents; her husband William on April 17, 1985; a granddaughter, Kala Stickrod; 3 sisters: Mildred Grethen, Sylvia McCormick, Dorothy Irlmeier; and 3 brothers: Eugene Hausman, Clarence Hausman, and Arthur Hausman.
