Madonna Boeckman, 83 of Breda, died late Thursday evening, March 10, 2016 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by her family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2016 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda. The Celebrant will be Fr. Gary Snyder. Mass servers will be Tucker Boeckman Jack Tiefenthaler, and Jair Tiefenthaler. Music will be by Marilyn Hundling and the St. Bernard’s Choir. Lectors and Gift Bearers will be Madonna’s granddaughters: Amy Brannen, Christin Banovic, Alyson Fleming, Nicole Findlay, Sarah Claiborne, Tara Wilcox, Lindsay Boeckman, and Stefanie Koenig. Eucharistic Ministers will be Cheryl Stork, Dean Boeckman, and Daryl Boeckman. Casket Bearers will be Madonna’s grandsons: Jeff Boeckman, David Boeckman, Matt Brincks, Chris Nieland, Andy Boeckman, Ben Boeckman, and Blake Bishop. Burial will be in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Breda.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Breda after 3 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m.
Additional visitation will be from noon until 1 p.m. on Monday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Breda.
Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for a later designation in Madonna’s memory.

Born on October 10, 1932 in Carroll, Iowa, Madonna was the daughter of Walter and Christine (Grote) Snyder. She spent her entire lifetime in the Breda community and was a graduate of St. Bernard’s High School in 1950.
On June 30, 1953, Madonna was united in marriage to Duane Boeckman at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda. Madonna served in various capacities at St. Bernard’s School and was also a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed traveling, golfing, morning coffee with the ladies, and was active in several card clubs over the years. Whether with family or friends, Madonna always enjoyed socializing with people. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren and loved to attend their activities, events and family gatherings.
Madonna was a member of the National Catholic Order of Foresters, Red Hat Ladies, St. Bernard’s Parish and Ladies Guild, where she was the head of the funeral committee for many years.
Survivors include her children: Larry “Fred” Boeckman and his wife Jeannie of Breda, Cheryl Stork and her husband Dean of Carroll, Carlene Brincks and her husband Doug of Lake City, Deb Nieland and her husband Kevin “Herm” of Breda, Dean Boeckman and his wife Sheila of Waverly, and Daryl Boeckman and his wife Kris of Carroll; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Linda (Ken) “Joe Pup” Steinkamp of Breda; her brother, Carl (Mary) Snyder of Breda; and her sisters-in-law: Mary Ann (Jim) Pudenz of Carroll, Kathleen Fox of Grayson, GA, and Joan Boeckman of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends.
Madonna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Duane Boeckman in 2006; her granddaughter, Melissa Stork; her parents-in-law, August and Florence Boeckman; her brother, Roger “Rocker” Snyder; and her brothers-in-law: Ott Boeckman, Larry Boeckman, and Jim Fox.
