Luella Klein, age 96 of Templeton, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at the Hawkeye Care Center in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton. The Celebrant will be Fr. Steven Brodersen assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Con-Celebrants will be Fr. Gary Snyder, and Fr. John Gerald. Mass Servers will be Anna Langel, and Mabel Langel. Music will be by Jeanne Kerkhoff and the Sacred Heart Men’s Choir. Lector will be Lisa Blum. Gift Bearers will be Michelle Glick, Ellen Gardner, Renee Yttredahl, and Katie Coane. Casket Bearers will be Jared Klein, Craig Langel, Mike Long, Brian Billmeyer, Jonathon Nagl, and Jason Klein. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas and St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary will form an honor guard for the funeral mass.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, after 2:30 p.m. on Monday where there will be a Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas Rosary prayed at 3 p.m., and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 5 p.m.
The casket will be moved to Sacred Heart Church in Templeton Tuesday morning, where visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m., and continue until the time of the funeral mass.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation.

Born on October 23, 1919 at Dedham, Iowa, Luella was the daughter of Edward and Margaret (Pletchette) Klocke. She grew up near Dedham, and attended grade school at St. Joseph’s School in Dedham. On January 29, 1940 Luella was united in marriage to Bernard Klein at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. The couple made their home near Dedham before settling on the Klein Family Farm near Templeton.
Over the years Luella was a devoted homemaker, and also a dedicated farm wife, helping her husband Bernard with their grain and livestock farming. In 1983 the couple moved to the Templeton Community, and in 2004 Luella moved to the Carroll community.
Luella was an avid reader, she also enjoyed cooking and baking, crossword puzzles, flowers, her flower gardens, and golf. Most of all Luella will be remembered for her love of her family, and being an incredible grandmother to all her grandchildren. Luella was a member of the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Sacred Heart Ladies Guild, and Sacred Heart Parish in Templeton.
Left to celebrate Luella’s life are her children: Imelda (Elmer) Langel of Manning, Jane (Brian) Wagner of Des Moines, Rachel (Lance) Reeder of Omaha, NE, Dorothy (Richard) Nagl of Colorado Springs, CO, and John (Donna) Klein of Castle Rock, CO; 20 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren; 13 step-great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters: Kathleen Irlmeier, Leana (Donald) Kalkhoff, Leona Erps, and Carol (Eugene) Hoffman; and her sister in law Lorraine Klocke as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Luella was preceded in death by her husband Bernard on June 14, 2003; daughter Mary Ellen; son and daughter-in-law: Joe and Linda Klein; her parents; her sisters: Jeanette Klocke, Elaine Sporrer, and Evangeline Cox, her brothers: Joe, Louis, and Harry Klocke.
