Lowell Wuebker, age 89, of Mt. Carmel, died Friday, July 8, 2016 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Con-Celebrant will be Fr. Gary Snyder. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and Marc Schapman. Lector for the funeral mass will be Julie Kennebeck. Gift Bearers will be Lowell’s great-grandchildren. Eucharistic Ministers will be: Chad Driscoll and Brian Hoffman. Honorary Casket Bearers will be: Julie Kennebeck, Jodie Driscoll, Kendall Cleveland, Nicole Schapman, and Caylee Ng. Casket Bearers will be: Austin Wuebker, Adam Wuebker, Josh Pudenz, Ryan Pudenz, Shane Pudenz, Morgan Wuebker, and Phillip Alley. Burial will be at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Mt. Carmel with military honors conducted by the Breda American Legion.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a Rosary prayed at 3 p.m., and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 5 p.m.
The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church on Monday morning, where visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. and continue until the time of the funeral mass. Born on November 6, 1926 at Mt. Carmel, Iowa, Lowell was the son of Henry and Bernadine (Vonnahme) Wuebker. He attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School and later graduated from St. Bernard’s High School. Following his schooling Lowell served in the United States Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in December of 1946.
Lowell returned to the Mt. Carmel area and was united in marriage to Marilyn Ortner on November 24, 1951 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. The couple made their home southwest of Mt. Carmel where Lowell was a grain and livestock farmer. He also was employed as an Insurance Adjuster for State Farm Insurance as well as doing custodial work for Our Lady of Mt. Carmel School.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors fishing and hunting. Lowell also loved baseball and coached Little League for many years. He enjoyed socializing with his friends, especially at Little Gus’s in Maple River. Lowell’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He was a member of Holy Spirit Church in Carroll and a lifelong member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Mt. Carmel.
Lowell is survived by his wife Marilyn Wuebker of Mt. Carmel; his children: Jane Knudsen and her husband Roger of Williamsburg, Lynn “Whip” Wuebker and his special friend Patty Alley of Maple River, Dean Wuebker and his wife Bambi of North Mankato, MN, and Lee Wuebker and his wife Lori of Lake View; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Sylvia Onken of Pocahontas, Jane (Don) Drees of Carroll, Clarise Pudenz of Carroll, Leota (Melvin) Borkowski of Carroll, and Marilyn Ortner of Pittsville, WI; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Daryl Wuebker; his sister, Bernice Hoffman; and his brother, Wilbert Wuebker.
