Louis T. Anstoeter, age 86, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 25, 2008 at the St. Anthony’s Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 A.M., Saturday, June 28, 2008 at the St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott. Lector will be Sister Joann Gehling. Gift Bearers will be Tessie Anstoeter and Luke Anstoeter. Eucharistic Ministers will be Sister Joann Gehling and Shirley Molitor. Casket Bearers will be Luke Anstoeter, Tony Anstoeter, Brian Gertz, Allan Dentlinger, Glenn Dentlinger, and Gary Williams. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Carroll. Friends may call after 3:30 P.M. Friday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. A rosary will be prayed at 4:00 P.M. Friday followed by a Christian Wake service at 7:00 P.M.
Louis T. Anstoeter was born on May 9, 1922, at Halbur, Iowa, the son of Henry and Anna (Testroet) Anstoeter. He attended St. Augustine School in Halbur. Louis was united in marriage to Rita Gehling on February 22, 1949 at the St. Peter and Paul Church in Carroll, with the late Father Lambert Schenkelberg officiating. For most of his life he farmed south of Halbur. In 1984 Louis and Rita moved from the farm into Carroll. Louis thoroughly enjoyed traveling to pick up vehicles for Walsh Motors, where in 12 years he drove over a half million miles. He enjoyed having coffee with his friends, taking walks around Swan Lake, and attending the State Fair in Des Moines. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Parish in Carroll.
Survivors include his wife Rita of Carroll; a daughter, Karen Gertz of Omaha, NE; a son Michael Anstoeter of Yankton, SD; four grandchildren, Brian Gertz, Tony, Luke, and Tessie Anstoeter, and their mother Susan Anstoeter; one sister, Esther Williams of Manning; and one uncle Frank Testroet.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna Anstoeter; a sister, Catherine Dentlinger and her husband Alphonse; a brother in law, Leo Williams; his parents in law, Herman and Genevieve Gehling; and a sister in infancy, Rita Anstoeter.
