Loretta Schultes, 94 of Templeton, died early Tuesday morning, October 21, 2014 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, October 24, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton. The Celebrant will be Loretta’s grandson, Fr. Tom Schultes. Con-Celebrants will be: Fr. Steven Brodersen, Fr. Lynn Bruch, and Fr. Gary Snyder. Organist for the mass will be Tom Ulrickson. Soloist will be Elizabeth Book. Lectors will be: Nicole Bruch, Kim Kangas, and Lisa Wolf. Gift Bearers will be Loretta’s great-grandchildren. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Loretta’s granddaughters: Kim Kangas, Donna Hays, Jodi Irlbeck, Jamie Wiskus, Lisa Wolf, Mary Kay Todd, Jenny Steinkamp, Ann Heckman, Roxanne Oesterlin, and Regina Marshall. Casket Bearers will be Loretta’s grandsons: Mike Bruch, Brian Bruch, Randy Bruch, Matt Schultes, Mike Schultes, Bill Vonnahme, Jeffrey Halbur, and Cory Halbur. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Templeton. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas will form an honor guard for the funeral mass.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Thursday where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. by the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m.
The casket will be moved to Sacred Heart Church in Templeton at 10 a.m. on Friday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on January 17, 1920 at Roselle, Iowa, Loretta Ann was the daughter of Fred and Mary (Tunning) Renze. She spent her younger years in the Roselle Community and attended Holy Angels School.
On October 14, 1940 she was united in marriage to John I. Schultes at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle. The couple made their home near Templeton where John was engaged in farming and Loretta worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital as a nurses aid and also was employed at Sacred Heart School and H.T.R. School with the hot lunch program. In 1979, John and Loretta moved into their new home in the Templeton Community. In 2008, Loretta moved to the Swan Place in Carroll where she was currently residing.
Loretta enjoyed playing cards and was active in several card clubs, was active with the Senior Social Club in Templeton, Templeton Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish in Templeton. Loretta’s greatest joy was spending time with her entire family.
Survivors include her children: LeRoy Schultes and his wife Virginia of Templeton, Larry Schultes and his wife Pat of Carroll, Marvin Schultes and his wife Delores of Hastings, NE, and Marilyn Vonnahme and her husband Dennis of Breda; 19 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; her sisters: Regina Schultes of Carroll and Lucille (Fred) Wittrock of Audubon; her brother, Leo Renze of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John I. Schultes in 1987; her daughter, Lois Bruch in 2010; her son-in-law, Robert Bruch in 2013; her sisters: Minnie Bauer and Margaret Renze; her brothers: Henry, Frank, and Norbert Renze; her great-grandchildren: Madeline Schultes and Will Vonnahme.
