Leo Danner, age 83, of Dedham, Iowa, died Thursday, January 22, 2009, at the Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 26, 2009, at St. Joseph Church in Dedham. The Celebrants will be Father Anthony Pick and Father Brian Danner assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Lector will be a daughter-in-law, Jeanne Danner. Gift Bearers will be granddaughters, Annie Rudolph, Kalee Danner, and Kelsi Danner. Mass Servers will be Danny and Brittany Baumhover. Eucharistic Ministers will be Lorraine Danner and Norbert Kasperbauer. Casket Bearers will be nephews, William Danner, Jr., Alfred Danner, Jr., Rich Danner, Steve Danner, Tom Danner, and Joe Schultes. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Dedham. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. Sunday. A rosary will be prayed at 3 P.M. Sunday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Sunday by St. Joseph Parish. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left at the funeral home or church for the Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids. Mr. Danner was born on April 10, 1925, at Dedham, Iowa, the son of Peter and Anna (Klocke) Danner, Sr. He spent his lifetime in the Dedham community and attended St. Joseph School. On November 27, 1954, he was married to Betty Mae Vogl at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton with Father William Buchholz officiating. The couple spent their entire married life on their farm east of Dedham. Mr. Danner was a grain and livestock farmer. He entered the Thomas Rest Haven in March 2008. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish and served on the Parish Finance Committee. He was also a member of the Carroll County Cattleman’s Association, Pork Producers, and Farm Bureau. Mr. Danner enjoyed his family, feeding Black Angus cattle, cattle buying trips to Ogallalla, Nebraska, and his 20 series John Deere antique tractors. Survivors include his wife, Betty Danner of Dedham; four sons, Dave Danner and his wife Carol of Dedham, Jim Danner of Dedham, Gary Danner and his wife Julie of Dedham, and Bob Danner and his wife Jeanne of Dedham; grandchildren, Annie Rudolph and her husband Mike, Jeremy Danner, Eric Danner, Kalee Danner, Kelsi Danner, Cory Danner, and Carter Danner; a great grandson, Zach Danner; brother, Peter Danner, Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Carroll; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna Danner of Carroll, Lorrine Danner of Templeton, Lorraine Danner of Carroll, Joe and Lorraine Vogl of Atlantic, LeRoy and Barb Vogl of Carroll, John and Adella Vogl of Adair, Earl and Laurel Vogl of Carroll, Mary Ann and Norbert Kasperbauer of Manilla, and Levan Eich of Bellevue, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Rosalia Schultes; brothers, Joseph, William, Alfred, Clifford, and Jerome Danner; sisters-in-law, Magdelene Danner and Marie Danner; brothers-in-law, Albin Schultes and Michael Eich; and his father and mother-in-law, John and Elizabeth Vogl.
