Larry Wiederin, 66 of Arcadia, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir with Larry’s granddaughter, Kendra Klocke as soloist. Lector for the funeral mass will be Larry’s granddaughter, Ashley Riggen. Gift Bearers will be Larry’s granddaughters’. Casket Bearers will be Larry’s grandsons’: Tyler Dentlinger, Ryan Klocke, Tanner Wiederin, Ayden Wiederin, Cody Wiederin, Cael Wiederin; and grandsons’ in-law, Jeremy Riggen and Nick Christianson. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll with military honors conducted by the Arcadia American Legion.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 p.m. on Friday where there will be a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. by Holy Spirit Parish.
The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9 a.m. on Saturday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on April 29, 1947 at Carroll, Iowa, Larry was the son of Merle and Thelma (Huegerich) Wiederin. He attended Kuemper Catholic Schools and graduated in 1965. Larry served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and upon his honorable discharge returned to the Carroll area. On April 19, 1969 he married Sharon Kramer at St. Paul Catholic Church in Scranton, Iowa. In the late 70’s Larry and Sharon made their home in the Arcadia Community. Throughout his lifetime he worked for Scranton Manufacturing, Gute Tree Service, Leroy & Son’s, and worked in the landfill division of the Carroll Recycling Center. Larry also was a hired man for several farmers in the area over the years, assisting with their farm operations. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, watching slow pitch softball, and taking drives around Swan Lake. Larry’s greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Sharon Wiederin of Arcadia; his children: Shelly Dentlinger and husband Terry of Coon Rapids, Mike Wiederin and wife Karri of Norfolk, NE, Lisa Wiederin and special friend Bobby Schultz of Arcadia, Jeff Wiederin and wife Brenda of Lytton, Chris Klocke and husband Gene of Willey and Jamie Wiederin of Westside; 17 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his siblings: Lou Ann Stoffers of Omaha, NE, Robert (Mary) Wiederin of Carroll, Gary Wiederin of Lidderdale, Kathy Olson and fiancé Dick Greteman of Carroll, Lynn (Mary) Wiederin of Ralston, Lois (Ron “Woody”) Beyer of Carroll, LaVonne (Rick) Richardson of Aransas Pass, TX, and Mike Wiederin of Lidderdale; his in-laws: Karlynn Wiederin of Ralston, Jerome Kirsch of Carroll, David (Diane) Kramer of Florida, Donald Kramer of Texas, Tom Kramer of Carroll, Kevin (Judy) Kramer of Carroll and Betty Petersen of Denison; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; his parent’s in-law, John and Jeanette Kramer; his grandson, Cade Wiederin; his sister, Shirley Kirsch; his brothers: Steve Wiederin and LaVerne Wiederin; and his in-laws: Ron Stoffers, Richard Kramer, and Gary Kramer.
