Laurence Edward Clark, son of Harry and Margaret (Burkhardt) Clark, was born on October 13, 1935 in Audubon. Upon graduating from Audubon High School, he joined the Army from 1954-1956 stationed in France where he became one heck of a cook! Larry then attended college at Northwest Missouri State in Maryville and graduated with high honors in 1961. On December 24, 1961, he married Sharon J. Anderson at St. Patrick’s Church in Audubon, Iowa.

Larry and Sharon moved their family to Carroll in 1973, which was his last move with the Social Security Administration. He began this career in 1961, retired in 1992, and also began his career as the Kuemper Catholic Boys Golf coach in 1988. Forever known as “Coach,” Larry would hold this position until 2012. He received numerous coach of the year awards, won state championships in 1995, 2009, 2010, 2011, took his team to state thirteen times, and captured eleven conference titles. In 2017, Larry was inducted into the Iowa High School Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Besides coaching over 650 high school student-athletes with his calm and consistent approach, Larry gave numerous junior golf lessons to kids of all ages in Breda and Carroll programs. He forever preached that hard work and determination would always pay off!

Since 1974, Larry has been a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Carroll Kiwanis Club and was active many years helping in so many ways. In 2012, he received the Public Service Award through the Carroll Chamber of Commerce. It’s also no surprise that Larry was an accomplished golfer himself winning many tournaments including club championships, city championships, and senior championships. Larry loved to fish in all types of weather, he loved to play cards especially Euchre, and he was an avid fan of many: Green Bay Packers, St. Louis Cardinals, Iowa Hawkeyes, and Arnold Palmer. Larry’s all-time favorite teams were the Kuemper Knights! He was a devoted Kuemper fan to all boys and girls sports! Above all of his interests came Larry’s family. He and Sharon spent countless miles and hours watching his favorite contenders of all, his fourteen grandchildren. It didn’t matter if they were golfing, playing baseball, running cross country, cheering, dancing, playing basketball, playing football, or playing soccer! He was always extremely proud of them and his family!

Larry is survived by his wife, Sharon, and their children: Jodi (Randy) Ludwig of Carroll, Michael (Mindy) Clark of Solon, Theresa (Bob) Boeckman of Breda, and Amy (Glenn) Pudenz of Lees Summit, MO. Fourteen grandchildren include: Kyler, Tanner, and Carter Ludwig, Kirby (Clark) Richman, Cody, Olivia, and Jack Clark, Miranda (Boeckman) Kalish, Austin, Brandon, and Tucker Boeckman, Hunter, Cameron, and Kennedy Pudenz; Ten great-grandchildren always brought a smile to his face! Obituary

Born March 31, 1930, he was the son of Bernard and Catherine (Rotert) Meiners. He grew up in the Dedham-Willey area and graduated from St. Mary’s School in Willey in 1943. He entered the U.S. Army July 8, 1953 and was stationed at Wurzburg, Germany. He was discharged on May 20, 1955.

Bernard married Dolores S. Halbur on January 24, 1956 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur. After being married Bernard and Dolores lived 3 miles north of Dedham for two years. In 1958, they moved to the farm they purchased four miles east of Dedham. They were the parents of six children: Daniel, Dale, David, Cathleen, Christine, and Gary. Dolores passed away January 21, 1978.

On August 9, 1980, Bernard married Marita Eickman at Annunciation Catholic Church in Coon Rapids. In May 2011, Bernard and Marita moved off the farm into the town of Coon Rapids, Iowa. They made their home there for 14 years. In April 2025, they moved to Parkview Assisted Living in Coon Rapids, Iowa.

During Bernard’s lifetime, he farmed, had a dairy operation, had a cow/calf operation, and raised hogs. He retired in 1992. He is a current member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Dedham, a member of the Dedham American Legion Post #20, and a member of the Manning VFW. In July 2001 Bernard, being a Korean Veteran, had the privilege to go on the Military Honor Flight to Washington DC. Just recently he was presented with a Quilt of Valor at Thomas Rest Haven, and at the age of 95 he still enjoyed attending the Legion meetings.

Bernard loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Holiday gatherings were a treat for him to get to see most of them at one time. In his spare time Bernard enjoyed gathering black walnuts in the fall and kept busy shelling the walnuts during the winter. Family and friends benefited from the fruits of his labor.

Bernard is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marita Meiners; his children, Dale (Mary) Meiners of Carroll, David (Jane) Meiners of Varna, IL, Cathleen (Larry) Nees of Coon Rapids, Christine (Mark) Schultes of Dedham, and Gary (Barb) Meiners of Manson; 19 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren with 2 more coming in October; a brother Anthony (Colleen) Meiners of Carroll; 2 sisters, Catherine Wittrock of Carroll and Marcella Naberhaus of Carroll; his sisters-in-laws, Margaret (Tom) Denker of Manning, and Pat (Joe) Goblirsch of Jesup. Sharon & family, Sorry to hear of Larry's passing. He was the manager of the Carroll Social Security office when I worked there in the 80s. He was a "no nonsense" type of boss but one who appreciated his employees and would stand up for us in all situations. I respected him as a boss and as a person. I'm sure you will all miss his gentle chuckle in your lives!!

Condolences to Sharon and the entire family. I was fortunate to not only know Larry through our times together on the golf course, driving range, and Kuemper activities but also as a teacher at Kuemper when his kids were students. Also as the golf coach prior to Larry I had the privilege of coaching Mike as a varsity player for all 4 years. As avid golfers and coaching comrades we had numerous conversations over the years and I treasure so many of the great "one line observations" that Larry shared. One of his best was " you know Mike I've had this game figured out about 50 times"! Larry loved coaching and was a standout advocate for his golf team. As mentioned by others he and Sharon so loved their family and he often shared stores with me when we crossed paths. Will truly miss the "one liners of wisdom" and the fist bumps from Larry at Mass when our paths crossed.
