Kevin T. Schreck, age 42, of Carroll, Iowa, died Thursday, March 12, 2009, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll of an apparent heart condition. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 16, 2009, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 A.M. Monday to lie in state until the time of the funeral mass. Lectors will be Phil and Kristie Schreck. Gift Bearers will be daughters, Jessica and Amber Fehring. Eucharistic Ministers will be Kristie Schreck and Jerry Vonnahme. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ray Christensen and Earl Thomas. Casket Bearers will be Allen Schreck, Tim Schreck, Steve Schreck, Phil Schreck, John Schreck, Josh Schreck, and Bill Kunecke. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 P.M. Sunday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 P.M. Sunday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Sunday by Holy Spirit Parish. Mr. Schreck was born on April 20, 1966, at Ft. Rucker, Alabama, the son of Gerald and Doris (Christensen) Schreck. Following his Father’s retirement from military service the family moved to Templeton and he graduated from Kuemper High School in 1985. He then attended the Auto Body Program at Western Iowa Technical School in Sioux City. On October 18, 1997, he was married to Karen Vonnahme in Carroll. The family made their home in Carroll where Mr. Schreck was employed in the automotive and construction business and most recently employed as a group leader at Goodrich-Turbine Fuel Technologies Company in Carroll. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Carroll Moose Lodge. Mr. Schreck enjoyed his family, auto mechanics, auto body repair, hot rods, and hanging out with his friends. Survivors include his wife, Karen Schreck of Carroll; daughters, Jessica and Amber Fehring at home; his parents, Gerald and Doris Schreck of Templeton; brothers, Allen Schreck and his wife Debbie of Fairway, Kansas, Tim Schreck and his wife Laure of Ankeny, Steve Schreck and his wife Lori of St. Charles, Missouri, Phil Schreck and his wife Kristie of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and John Schreck and his wife Darnell of Ocean Springs, Miss.; a sister, Annette Schreck of Tucson, Ariz.; grandmother, Effie Christensen of Manning; mother-in-law, Sally Vonnahme of Carroll; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry Vonnahme of Washington, Dennis and Cherrie Vonnahme of Ogden, Duane and Joni Vonnahme of Carroll, Jo and Rob Grundmeier of Carroll, and Carol and Al Gortmaker of Sussex, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Schreck Jr., in infancy; his father-in-law, Vernon Vonnahme; and grandparents, Nelson Christensen and Louis and Clara Schreck.
