Kathryn “Katie” Beyer, age 86, of Carroll, Iowa, died Monday, May 26, 2008, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, May 29, 2008, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott. Lector will be a granddaughter, Janelle Sievers. Gift Bearers will be great grandchildren, Kelsi Wernimont, Kenzi Wernimont, Noelle Hecht, and Katie Adams. Eucharistic Ministers will be Jerome Sievers, Ronald Beyer, and Marilyn Foley. Honorary Pallbearers will be granddaughters, Karla Heinrichs, Debi Hecht, Denise Laidig, Janelle Sievers, Jill Wernimont, Jodi Wernimont, Jennifer Adams, and Stephanie Adams. Casket Bearers will be grandsons, Keith Adams, Jerry Sievers, Jr., Kevin Sievers, Marc Wernimont, Tony Wernimont, David Holley, and Scott Holley. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. Wednesday. A rosary will be prayed at 3 P.M. Wednesday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Wednesday by St. Lawrence Parish. Mrs. Beyer was born on May 13, 1922, at Arion, Iowa, the daughter of John and Marie (Christiansen) Eggers. She spent her younger years in the Arion and Denison communities and attended country school and graduated from Denison High School. On October 14, 1941, she was married to Francis Glen Adams at Blair, Nebraska. The couple lived in Denison until 1956 when they moved to Carroll. Mr. Adams died in September 1972. On October 11, 1980, she was married to Paul B. Beyer in Carroll. The couple made their home in Carroll. Mrs. Beyer had been employed for many years by the Ocoma Foods Company and by Farmland Foods Company in Carroll until her retirement. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and Parish Ladies Guild. Mrs. Beyer was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed her family, friends, embroidery, traveling, camping, fishing, playing cards, and meeting monthly with her high school friends for lunch. Survivors include her husband, Paul Beyer of Carroll; children, Loren “Tex” Adams and his wife Judie of Estherville, Cheryl Wernimont and her husband Roger of Carroll, Norma Holley and her husband Robert of Scranton, and Larry “John” Adams and his wife Cheryl of Geneseo, Illinois; son-in-law, Jerome Sievers of Onawa; 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; step-children, Russell Beyer of New Jersey, Ronald Beyer and his wife Lois of Carroll, Richard Beyer and his wife Sharon of Carroll, and Vicki Smith and her husband Matt of Johnston; 9 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great grandchildren; sister, Esther McConnell of Manilla; and sister-in-law, Alma Reinhart of Carroll. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; a daughter, Colleen Sievers; granddaughter, Jeanne Marie Sievers; great grandson, Cody Ryan Heller; sisters, Mable Carstens, Florence Koxvold, Marie Kruse, Dorothy Jors, Leona Altmanshofer, and Ruth Gary; brothers, Louis and Everett Eggers; and step-daughter-in-law, Marie Beyer.
