Julia Hacker, age 95, of Carroll, Iowa, died early Saturday, August 8, 2009, at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M., Monday, August 10, 2009, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott. Lectors will be Karen Daniel and Sheri Leiting. Gift Bearers will be Jeanne Venteicher, LuJean Stork, Janice Schulte, and Mary Kay Bueltel. Eucharistic Ministers will be Marilyn Foley and Urban and Jean Knobbe. Honorary Pallbearers will be Al Ausman, Eugene Pudenz, Phil Welsh, Pat Hacker, and Dennis Venteicher. Casket Bearers will be Alan Stork, Ron Hacker, Andrew Patera, Kory Patera, Craig Bueltel, and Ted Hacker. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3 P.M. Sunday. A rosary will be prayed at 4 P.M. Sunday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Sunday by St. Lawrence Parish. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or church for St. Anthony Hospice. Julia was born on March 6, 1914, at Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Klocke) Venteicher. She spent her lifetime in the Carroll area and attended Grant Township School #8 and Saint Peter and Paul School. On October 30, 1945, she was married to Frank J. Hacker at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The couple farmed in the Glidden and Ralston area before moving to their farm west of Lidderdale in 1969. She moved to Carroll in 1983 following her husband’s death. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and Parish Ladies Guild. Julia enjoyed her family, friends, cooking, baking, crocheting, and coffee club. Survivors include her son, Terry Hacker and his wife Theresa of Austin, Minn.; a daughter, Debra Patera of Omaha, Nebr.; six grandchildren; a sister, DeEtta Bueltel of Carroll; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Marjorie Hacker of Halbur. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Hacker in January 1983; her parents; sisters, Arlene Fossing and Edna Kraul; and brothers, Henry, Louis, Julius, and Alvin Venteicher.
