Joseph “Joe” Weitl, age 60, of Carroll, died Friday evening, September 11, 2015 at the Thomas Rest Haven Nursing Home in Coon Rapids, Iowa.
A time of gathering will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.

Born on January 3, 1955, at Bertha, Minnesota, Joseph M. was the son of Raymond and Lorraine (Stangl) Weitl. At a young age the family moved to the Manning area. Joe graduated from Manning High School, and then later attended Des Moines Area Community College. Joe continued his education at Iowa State University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business. After his graduation he worked at Financial Plus Credit Union in Des Moines. Joe later owned and operated his own construction business in the Carroll area, where he took great pride in his work. Joe enjoyed the time he spent with his daughters and his granddaughter.
Joe is survived by his daughters: Stephanie Lemke and special friend John Muehring of Ankeny, and Kenzie Weitl of Urbandale, and his granddaughter Caitlin Lemke. Also surviving are his siblings: Diane (Gerald) Berger of Arcadia, Mike (Jan) Weitl of Templeton, Bill (Shona) Weitl of Manning, Jim (Sue) Weitl of Carroll, Patty Franklin of Wenatchee, Washington, and Kathy (Mike) Hilliard of Kansas City, Missouri; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives and friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents: Raymond and Lorraine Weitl.
