John Henry Laube, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend went to heaven on October 2nd, 2025 in Tomball, Texas.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 8th, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manilla, Iowa with interment to follow at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Manilla, Iowa. John’s family will then receive family and friends for fellowship and lunch at Manilla Memorial Hall.

John was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 3rd, 1940 to Henry and Cecilia (Ellner) Laube. He grew up in Harlan, Iowa with his 3 sisters. He met Imelda “Milly” Laube in Harlan, Iowa while still in high school and the two were married in Manilla, Iowa on June 17th, 1961. John attended the University of Nebraska as a student-athlete graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering. Shortly thereafter, John and Milly moved to California where he started his teaching and coaching career and their family. He continued his education, completing his Masters in Physical Chemistry at the University of Indiana. Then in 1979 John changed careers and took a position with Bechtel Power Corporation developing nuclear power plants in California, Texas, Mississippi, and South Korea. He retired in 2000 residing in Tomball, Texas until his passing from Pancreatic Cancer.
John was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and a devout Catholic for his entire life. As a man of deep faith, John was a living example of compassion, integrity, and humility. He loved to travel, read, spend time with his family and was a friend to everyone he met. He attended Prince of Peace in Houston, Texas for over 40 years where he served in several capacities including Lector, Eucharistic Minister and enjoyed Bible study. John was also a long-time member of the Knights of Columbus, where he served the community and attained 4th degree Knight status. He also served and fellowshipped with his wife Milly in Marriage Encounter for several decades.
John is survived by his son John Laube, Jr. and wife Karen; Daughter Kristin (Laube) Manning and husband Carl; Grandchildren Olivia (Manning) Jensen and husband Lucas, and Maxwell Manning; and his sister Marian (Laube) Santi. John was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Imelda (Schwery) Laube, his parents Henry and Cecilia (Ellner) Laube, Sisters Joan (Laube) Rosman and Lolita (Laube) Gallagher.
