John Henry Hackfort, 74 of Carroll, died early Thursday morning, February 4, 2021 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.
A private family funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2020 at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Officiating will be Fr. Gary Snyder. Casket Bearers will be John’s family. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Born on February 21, 1946 at Carroll, Iowa, John Henry Hackfort was the son of Herman J. and Estella (Nieland) Hackfort. John grew up on the family farm south of Carroll and graduated from Kuemper Catholic High School in 1964. Shortly after high school, John was employed for over 20 years with Metro Pavers in Iowa City, Iowa. While working for Metro Pavers, John received several awards for his concrete craftsmanship. He returned to Carroll where he helped with his family’s grain and livestock operation. John enjoyed reading farm magazines, attending the Farm Progress show, and farm auctions. He was a devoted farmer and agriculture enthusiast. John was a member of St. John Paul II Parish – Holy Spirit Church in Carroll.
John is survived by his siblings: Barbara Hackfort of Carroll, James Hackfort of Carroll, and Lou Ann Tigges of Willey.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Estella Hackfort; his sister, Rose Marie Hackfort, and his brother-in-law, Vic Tigges.
