John Humlicek, age 30, of Carroll, Iowa, died Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Hobbs Access near Lanesboro, Iowa.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 4, 2010, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 A.M. Friday to lie in state until the time of the funeral mass. Lector will be Tim Humlicek. Gift Bearers will be Michaela Dickson and Nickie Thomas. Soloists will be Justin and Tyler Badding. Pianist will be Marcy Anderson. Casket Bearers will be Adam Humlicek, Mitch Mengwasser, Justin Dickson, Aaron Dickson, Nathan Badding, Stephen Badding, and Ben Steinkamp. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 P.M. Thursday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Thursday by Holy Spirit Parish.
John was born on November 11, 1979, at Carroll, Iowa, the son of Clarence D. “Butch” and Victoria Lynn (Dickson) Humlicek, Jr. He spent his lifetime in the Carroll community and graduated from Carroll High School in 1998. John has been employed for many years as a swine technician for Hatterhas Hog Confinement Company and most recently by Handlos Family Farms of Audubon in the same capacity. He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. John enjoyed his family and friends, fishing, hunting, motorcycles, four wheeling, snowmobiling, landscaping, playing guitar, surfing the web, and inventing things.
John is survived by his parents, Butch and Vicki Humlicek, Jr. of Carroll; his brother, David Humlicek of Carroll; sisters, Tammy Humlicek and fiancé Ben Steinkamp of Halbur, and Katie Humlicek and special friend Mitch Mengwasser of Carroll; his nieces, Lexi Steinkamp and Kylie Humlicek; grandparents, Laura Humlicek of Carroll, and Bill and Bernice Dickson of Carroll; by many loving aunts and uncles; and by his good friends, Jason, Tish, Becky, Missy, and many, many more friends.
John was preceded in death by his grandfather, Clarence C. “Butch” Humlicek, Sr.; and his uncles, Jeff Dickson and David Humlicek, in infancy.
