Joan Reinart

Joan Reinart, age 74, of Boone and formerly of Carroll, died Friday, July 1, 2022 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa following a courageous battle with a long illness. A Funeral Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday July 6, 2022, at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. A private family burial will be held at Holy Family Cemetery near Lidderdale. Visitation will be held from 4p to 6p on Wednesday at the funeral home. Joan Carol Reinart, the daughter of Truman and Pearl (Isaacs) Ewoldt was born on August 30, 1947 in Carroll, Iowa. Joan grew up on the family farm near Westside, Iowa and graduated from AR-WE-VA High School in 1965. After high school Joan attended trade school in Omaha for 2 years. Joan was strongly independent until one day when she met the love of her life, Alvin Reinart. Joan and Alvin were married on June 17, 1983 in Carroll, Iowa. The couple made their home in Carroll. On September 18, 1984 the welcomed their daughter Melissa Pearl, into this world. If you would have asked Joan, these two dates were the happiest days of her life. Joan enjoyed traveling with friends and working at St. Anthony Hospital Lab and at Tony’s Restaurant as a waitress. Working in customer service came naturally for Joan. She was able to have a conversation with anyone and was known to make a stranger to a friend in just a few minutes. In retirement Joan has enjoyed visiting with friends. Having her grandchildren over to her apartment to play and going to her retirement center and enjoying the company of her friends. She enjoyed listening to music, reading books and was a forever learner. Most of all Joan enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and daughter Melissa. Joan fought her health issues with strength, fighting her health conditions to the end. Joan is survived by her daughter: Melissa and her husband Ryan Hart of Boone; grandchildren: Nile and Bennett Hart. Her siblings: Bob (Gloria) Ewoldt of Manning, Randy (Kathy) Ewoldt of Ankeny, Steve Ewoldt of Carroll; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Roseann “Suzy” Willman of Webster City, Darlene Jensen (Mark Sensat) of Houston, TX, and Mary (James) Underberg of Carroll; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Alvin in 2020; her parents: Truman and Pearl Ewoldt; parents-in-law: Hilbert and Cecelia Reinart; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Connie Ewoldt, Paul Reinart, Pete Willman.
