Janet Kathryn Schrad

Janet Schrad, 64, of St. Hedwig, Texas, and formerly of Maple River, died Friday at Resolute Hospital in New Braunfels, Texas. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Mass servers will be: Tristan Janson, Clare Janson, Elise Rose Janson, and Cameron Pille. Music will be by Barb McDermott, Holy Spirit Choir, with Sherrie Schrad as soloist. Lectors will be Ray and Barb Pille. Gift Bearers will be: Jan Sias, and Janelle Pille. Eucharistic Ministers will be: Dick Schrad, Ray and Barb Pille. Honorary Casket Bearers will be: Kathy Johnson, Lois Quinn, Lucy Furey, Teresa Crouse, Justin Schrad and Jordyn Schrad. Casket Bearers will be: Ray Pille, Joe Pille, Chuck Pille, Steve Pille, Bernie Pille and Jerry Schrad. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Maple River. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Wednesday where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church on Thursday morning where visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. and will continue until time of the funeral mass. Jan was an organ donor and her two beautiful eyes have already helped two people. Born on April 8, 1953 at Carroll, Iowa, Janet Kathryn was the daughter of Raymond and Ruth (Bernholtz) Pille. Jan was a 1971 graduate of Kuemper Catholic High School and furthered her education at CE School of Commerce in Omaha where she received an Associate Business Degree. On November 25, 1978, Jan was united in marriage to James Earl Schrad at the Carroll Country Club. Throughout her working career she was employed at Union Pacific Railroad, Green & Siemann Law Firm, Michael S. Brenan & Associates, I.F.S. in San Antonio and was currently the CFO of Red Apple Resources and Honey Bee Bakery in St. Hedwig, Texas. Jan is survived by her husband Jim Schrad of St. Hedwig, TX; her daughter-in-law, Sherrie Schrad of Belleville, IL; her grandchildren: Justin Schrad and Jordyn Schrad, both of Belleville, IL; her siblings: Ray (Barb) Pille of Omaha, NE, Kathy (Dave) Johnson of Omaha, NE, Lois (Dennis) Quinn of Chaska, MN, Joe (Janelle) Pille of Eldorado Hills, CA, Lucy (Kevin) Furey of Austin, TX, Chuck (Debb) Pille of Carroll, Steve (Trina) Pille of Mt. Carmel, Teresa (Todd) Crouse of Lake View, and Bernie (Lisa) Pille of Maple River; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Jan Sias of San Diego, Jean Goodbar of Eugene, OR, Jerry (Jeanne) Schrad of Carroll, Joleen Schrad and partner Rush Abrams of San Diego, and Jane (Lino) Favela of Arizona; her special pets, Jypsy and Jasper; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends. Jan was preceded in death by her parents; her stepson, Jamie Schrad; and her nephew, Casey Quinn.
