Isabella Henrich, 98 of Carroll, and formerly of Maple River, died Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Lectors for the funeral mass will be Isabella’s granddaughters: Deb Schneider and Jane Janning Havlik. Gift Bearers will be Isabella’s great-grandchildren: Nic, Nathan, and Colin Schneider, Lauren Havlik, and Chris and Allison Eckland. Eucharistic Ministers will be Sherry Henrich and Dorothy Bellinghausen. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Isabella’s granddaughters: Jeanne Eckland, Deb Schneider, and Jane Janning Havlik. Casket Bearers will be Isabella’s grandsons: Dan Bueltel, Steven Bueltel, Michael Bueltel, Mark Henrich, and Jeffrey Henrich; and Isabella’s grandsons-in-law, Bruce Havlik and Dave Schneider. Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Maple River.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. Friday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service by the parish at 6 p.m. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 8:30 a.m. Saturday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on January 16, 1913 at Maple River, Iowa, Isabella was a daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Ocken) Bruening. She attended St. Francis Grade School in Maple River and attended Templeton High School. Following her formal education Isabella worked at the Burke Hotel in Carroll and also helped several families in the Carroll area. On June 4, 1936 she married Floyd “Jeff” Henrich at St. Francis Church in Maple River. Floyd and Isabella made their home in Maple River and spent their entire lifetime in the Maple River Community. Isabella was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, quilting, embroidery, cooking, baking, and her specialty was baking pies. She was active in the St. Francis Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, and the parish choir. In 2004 Isabella was an Honored Guest at the Maple River Centennial. She enjoyed music, especially Guy Lombardo and Lawrence Welk, playing cards, and spending time with her family. Isabella was a longtime member of St. Francis Parish in Maple River, and currently a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll. Survivors include her children: Mary Lou Janning of Carroll, Bonnie Bueltel and her husband Arlo of Carroll, and Stan Henrich and his wife Sherry of Carroll; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mary Hartquist and Phyllis Etringer of Omaha, Nebraska, and Sister Marquerite Bruening F.S.P.A. of Lacrosse, WI; one brother, Brother Michael Bruening, O.S.F. of Eureka, MO; well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Floyd in July 1977; son-in-law, Jerry Janning; sisters, Dorothy Rutten and Alma Doorley; and brothers: Wilbur Bruening, Anthony Bruening, and Fr. Paul Bruening.
