Born on April 26, 1922 at Breda, Iowa, Ione was the daughter of Bernard “Ben” and Rose (Brune) Bruning. Ione attended St. Bernard’s School in Breda, and then work for three years at the Breda Creamery and also worked for several families in the area, before going to help her grandfather with his farm operation in Minnesota.
On February 9, 1949, Ione was united in marriage to George A. Beyer at the Cathedral of the Epiphany in Sioux City, Iowa. Ione and George lived in several communities while George worked in road construction and then moved to Arcadia for three years before settling in the Carroll community in 1955. This past spring Ione became a resident of Westwood Knolls in Carroll where she was currently residing.
Ione enjoyed fishing, motorcycle rides, watching sports on television, watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events, and listening to her granddaughter Katelyn perform. Throughout her lifetime she enjoyed traveling and most recently took a trip to Phoenix, Arizona. She loved music, dancing and took pride that she danced with Lawrence Welk at the Breda American Legion Hall. Ione’s greatest joy in life was her entire family.
She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, and Legion of Mary.
