Helen Loeffelholz, age 84, of Mesa, Arizona, and formerly of Halbur, Iowa, died Monday evening, September 7, 2009, at Eckstein Center Hospice in Scottsdale, Arizona. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at St. Augustine Church in Halbur. The Celebrant will be Abbot Michael Liebl. Con-celebrant will be Father Dale Reiff. Lector will be a grandson, Jacob Loeffelholz. Gift Bearers will be grandsons, Chris Loeffelholz, Ryan Loeffelholz, and Ted Loeffelholz. Mass Servers will be grandsons, Zach Loeffelholz and Mark Loeffelholz. Eucharistic Ministers will be Sandy Loeffelholz and Cindy Bauer. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of America will form an honor guard at the church for the funeral mass. Casket Bearers will be grandchildren, Matt Zubrod, Meggan Lombardo, Mike Loeffelholz, Angie Schrad, Matt Loeffelholz, and Sara Loeffelholz. Burial will be at St. Augustine Cemetery in Halbur. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. Monday. A rosary will be prayed at 3 P.M. Monday by the Carroll Catholic Daughters of America. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Monday by St. Augustine Parish. In lieu of flowers memorials may be left at the funeral home or church in Helen’s name. Mrs. Loeffelholz was born on November 9, 1924, at Halbur, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard and Margaret (Steffes) Halbur. She spent most of her lifetime in the Halbur community and attended St. Augustine School. On January 8, 1947, she was married to Walter Loeffelholz at St. Augustine Church in Halbur. The couple farmed southwest of Halbur until 1949 when they moved to Halbur. The Halbur Implement Company was started in 1955 and the business remains in the family to this day operated as Halbur Enterprise Company. The Loeffelholz’s moved to Mesa, Arizona, in 1991. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and former member of St. Augustine Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, and Parish Choir. Helen enjoyed her family, playing golf, reading, and music. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Diane Zubrod and Arthur Taylor of Scottsdale, Ariz., Lois and Patrick Kelley of Madison, Wisc., Dennis and Jane Loeffelholz of Huntsville, Alabama, Gary and Sandy Loeffelholz of Halbur, John and Doreen Loeffelholz of Halbur, and Danny and Lisa Loeffelholz of Omaha, Nebr.; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Agnes Schwaller of Carroll and Rita Sporrer and her husband Harold of Manning; two brothers, Edwin Halbur and his wife Bernice of Coon Rapids and Louis Halbur and his wife Agnes of Halbur; a brother-in-law, Vernon Rohe and his wife Vi of Manning; and a sister-in-law, Eileen Halbur of Manning. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Loeffelholz, in July 2001; a grandson, Tom Loeffelholz; her parents; a sister, Martha Rohe; and brother, Leander Halbur.
