Geraldine “Jessie” Hall, age 85, of Carroll, Iowa, died Thursday, October 8, 2009, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Monday, October 12, 2009, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 A.M. Monday to lie in state until the time of the funeral mass. Lector will be Bob Irlbeck. Gift Bearers will be Brian Irlbeck, Lisa Christensen, Eric Christensen, and Josie Mahan. Mass Servers will be Seth, Hannah, and Sydney Macke. Eucharistic Ministers will be Estherline Blum and Lorraine Danner. Casket Bearers will be Mike Grandgenett, Scott Wiederin, Tom Sandve, Al Schapman, Rick Bruning, and Thomas Van Dyke. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2 P.M. Sunday. A rosary will be prayed at 3 P.M. Sunday. There will be a Christian wake service at 5 P.M. Sunday by Holy Spirit Parish. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or church for the Kuemper Catholic Schools Foundation. Mrs. Hall was born on August 7, 1924, at Duluth, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph and Bertilla (Truhe) Danner. She spent her younger years in the Templeton community and made her home with her grandparents, William and Carrie Truhe. She attended Sacred Heart School and Carroll High School. On August 30, 1943, she was married to Harold T. Hall at Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. Following her husband’s military service the couple made their home in Carroll. Mrs. Hall had been employed by Ray and Eleanor Hamann, Ocoma Foods, Safeway Grocery Store, and Coast to Coast Store until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and Parish Ladies Guild. She was a New Hope Village volunteer, former Girl Scout Leader, and was very active in the Carroll Country Association for Retarded Children having volunteered extensively in the preparation of the Grant Township School for the first Trainable Classes facility. Survivors include her daughter, Kris Irlbeck and her husband Randy of Dedham; her grandchildren, Brian Irlbeck and his special friend Josie Mahan of San Diego, Calif., and Lisa Christensen and her husband Eric of Gilbert, Arizona; and a sister, Dorothy Wiederin and her husband Walter of Carroll. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Hall, in September 1997; a daughter, Carolyn Hall; a son, Thomas Hall; her parents; sisters, Eleanor Hamann and Rose Green; and brothers, Al, Norbert, Raymond, and Wilbur Truhe.
