Freda Pletchette, age 82, of Willey, Iowa, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Friday, June 27, 2008, at St. Mary Church in Willey. The Celebrant will be Father James McCormick. Lector will be Lori Schreck. Gift Bearers will be Theresa and Amy Greving. Mass Servers will be Colin and Alyson Schreck. Eucharistic Ministers will be Lorena Grossman and Mary Schreck. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of America will form an honor guard at the church for the funeral mass. Casket Bearers will be Mark Schreck, Keith Schreck, Chase Schreck, Larry Greving, Ed Tigges, and Randy Huegerich. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Willey. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. Thursday. A rosary will be prayed at 3 P.M. Thursday by the Carroll Catholic Daughters of America. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Thursday by St. Mary Parish. Freda Pletchette was born on October 27, 1925, at Willey, Iowa, the daughter of Bernard Sr. and Anna (Neppel) Pletchette. She spent her younger years in the Willey community and attended St. Mary School and then the Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines. At the age of 19 she moved to Washington D.C. where she was employed by the U.S. Census Bureau. From 1953 until her retirement in September 1983 she was employed as a Fiscal Clerk for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Des Moines. She returned to Willey in 1983 and was employed as a nanny for the managers of the Carroll Airport and later the Larry and Theresa Greving family. She has been a resident of St. Anthony Nursing Home since December 2005. She was a member of St. Mary Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, Catholic Daughters of America, and Dedham American Legion Auxiliary. Miss Pletchette was the former Willey City Clerk and enjoyed traveling, baking, and organizing family gatherings and Willey neighborhood gatherings. Survivors include her brothers, Leon Pletchette of Carroll and Edward Pletchette of Willey; a sister, Anita Dorski and her husband Al of Des Moines; and two nieces, Susan Cornelius and her husband Dan of Lake City and Rhonda Ford of Rockwell City. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Eugene, Ronald, and Bernard Pletchette.
