Floyd Drake, age 82 of Audubon, died early Tuesday morning, August 2, 2011, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Memorial Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 8, 2011 at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. Officiating will be Rev. Jud Stover from the First United Methodist Church in Audubon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Floyd’s Grandchildren. Burial will be at a later date. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 p.m. Monday until time of the service.

Floyd William Drake was born on February 1, 1929 in Waubay, South Dakota, the son of John and Ann (Murphy) Drake. He was married to Lois V. Vinke on July 7, 1952 in South Dakota. The couple lived in Watertown, South Dakota for 13 years before moving to Gray, Iowa in 1965. Throughout his lifetime Floyd worked for Swift & Company in South Dakota, Moorhouse Ready Mix in Carroll, and then worked for Jerry Janning in Carroll until his retirement. Floyd loved to mow, listening to hymns, and enjoyed watching Lawrence Welk. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Audubon.
Survivors include his wife, Lois of Audubon; five children: Greg Drake of Hamlin, Ron Drake and his wife Benita of Menlo, Susan Peterson and her husband Dennis of Manning, Ann Shoemaker and her husband Brian of Polk City, and Kelli Jensen and her husband Rod of Audubon; 10 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; seven step-great-grandchildren; as well as other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Loretta Riley.
