Dorothy Sapp, 83 of Carroll, died Sunday evening, August 7, 2016 at the Swan Place in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2016 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Craig Collison. Music will be by Kate Cuddy and the St. Lawrence Choir with Sherry Loughran as Cantor. Lector will be Jacob Snyder. Gift Bearers will be Chelsey Sapp, Amanda Burt, and Miranda Gerding. Eucharistic Minister will be Becky Snyder. Casket Bearers will be Joshua Sapp, Jacob Burt, Christopher Burt, Steve Sapp, Mike Sapp, Larry Gerding, and Robert Burt. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday where there will be a Rosary prayed at 6 p.m., and a Christian Wake Service will be held directly after the Rosary.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church Thursday morning, where visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m., and continue until the time of the funeral mass.

Born on January 7, 1933 at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, Dorothy was the daughter of Henry and Louise (Grueterman) Wegman. She grew up west of Breda, and graduated from St. Angela’s Academy in 1952. After her formal education Dorothy worked for Commercial Savings Bank in Carroll until she married her husband Robert Sapp. The couple were united in marriage on April 26, 1958 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. After their wedding the couple made their home in Carroll where Dorothy was a devoted homemaker, and also worked as a book-keeper for her husband’s business, Bob’s Shoe Repair.
Dorothy enjoyed sewing, baking, bowling, and flowers. Most of all Dorothy enjoyed the time she spent with her family. She was a member of St. Lawrence Church, and St. Lawrence Ladies Guild.
Dorothy is survived by her husband of 58 years Bob Sapp of Carroll; children: Marie (Larry) Gerding of Omaha, NE, Mike (Connie) Sapp of Carroll, Trish (Robert) Burt of Ringsted, and Steve (Rosie) Sapp of Carroll; nine grandchildren: Chelsey Sapp, Amanda Burt, Josh Sapp, Chris Burt, Miranda Gerding, Jacob Burt, Brandy Fay, Jennifer Fay, and Adam Fay; also surviving are her sister-in-laws: Janet Parent of Chicago, IL, Mary Steimer of Omaha, Judy Testroet of Carroll, and Linda (Jerry) Schaffer of Ft. Dodge; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Louise Wegman, parents-in-law: J.J. and Marie Sapp, her siblings: Marcella Wegman, Leona Wegman, Walter (Anna) Wegman, Lawrence (Dorothy & Nickey) Wegman, Helen Wegman,Ila Mae (Tony) Pivonka , and Mary Ann Wegman; her in-laws: Ruth (Merle) Olberding, Richard (Judy) Sapp, Ray (Doris) Sapp, Glenn Steimer, and Paul Testroet.
