Dorothy Renze, age 85, of Carroll, Iowa, died Monday, April 28, 2008, at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Friday, May 2, 2008, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father James McCormick. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 A.M. Friday to lie in state until the time of the funeral mass. Lector will be Michelle Kerr. Gift Bearers will be Great Grandchildren. Eucharistic Ministers will be Patricia Davis and Lois Hildman. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of America will form an honor guard for the funeral mass. Casket Bearers will be Jadee Renze, Megan Renze, Tony Renze, Erich Davis, Angela Renze, and Sarah Peterson. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. Thursday. A rosary will be prayed at 3 P.M. Thursday by the Carroll Catholic Daughters of America. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Thursday by Holy Spirit Parish. Mrs. Renze was born on December 20, 1922, at Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Louis M. and Mary Ann (Miller) Nagl. She spent her lifetime in the Carroll community and attended Holy Angels School in Roselle and graduated from St. Angela Academy. On November 18, 1942, she was married to George T. Renze at Holy Angels Church in Roselle with Father Louis Anthofer officiating. The couple farmed south of Carroll until 1990 when they moved to Carroll. Mrs. Renze had been employed by the Garst Seed Company, Renze Hybrid Seed Company, Holy Angels School Hot Lunch Program, Park Gardens Florist, and Earl May Garden Center. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, Holy Spirit Quilters, R.S.V.P, and Catholic Daughters of America. She volunteered at the Congregate Meals and was a former 4-H Leader. Mrs. Renze enjoyed her family, quilting, flowers, and traveling. Survivors include her children, Donald Renze and his wife JoAnn of Omaha, Nebr., Larry Renze and his wife Anita of St. Peters, Missouri, Patricia Davis of Fremont, Nebr., Ken Renze and his wife Scarlett of Waseca, Minn., and Robert Renze and his wife Julie of Perry; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; sister, Anita Meyers of Omaha, Nebr.; brother, Robert Nagl and his wife Delores of Carroll; and sisters-in-law, Sylvia Nagl of Carroll and Helen Rupiper of Council Bluffs. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Renze, in August 1991; granddaughter, Beth Vandersnick; sister, Lucille Wittry; and brother, Donald L. Nagl.
