Doris Ann Boes, 84 of Carroll, died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by her family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Music will be by Marcy Anderson as pianist; Sherry Loughran as song leader and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lector for the funeral mass will be Doris’ brother, Darwin Schulte. Gift Bearers will be Doris’ granddaughters: Michelle Burgher, Holly Honsey, Mindy Bylund, Trisha Steffes, Teresa Done, Tina Cain, Jenna Lambertz, Samantha Mack, Kelly Schneider, Cassie Hausman, Caitlin Hausman, Kinsey Gorrell, Kari Masching, and Bailey Kanne. Eucharistic Minister will be Don Masching. Casket Bearers will be Doris’ grandsons: Daryl Boes Jr., Scott Steffes, Charlie Cain Jr., Dan Boes, Tom Boes, Jon Boes, Joe Boes, Jason Lambertz, Casey Coppock, Stephan Coppock, and Brandon Masching. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:30 p.m. on Friday where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. by St. Lawrence Parish. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.
Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for the American Cancer Society.

Born on July 30, 1928 in Breda, Iowa, Doris Ann was the daughter of Edmund and Agnes (Heisterkamp) Schulte. She attended grade school in Breda and graduated from St. Bernard’s High School, and finished her education at the teacher’s academy in Carroll. Following her formal education Doris taught at country school near Breda. On February 6, 1947 she was united in marriage to Rufus Boes at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Breda. Doris and Rufus enjoyed dancing at the Lakewood Ballroom and she always enjoyed her card club ladies. She loved her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Doris was a member of St. Lawrence Church in Carroll and parish ladies guild.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Rufus Boes of Carroll; her children: Daryl (Jayne) Boes of Mesa, AZ, Beverly Steffes of West Des Moines, Peggy (Chuck) Cain of Ankeny, Michael (Jan) Boes of Urbandale, Cindy (Jim) Lambertz of Carroll, Lori (Clay) Coppock of Scottsdale, AZ, Sandy (John) Hausman of Gilbert, AZ, and Tammi (Bob) Masching of Elk Horn, NE; 25 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Norma Jean (Frank) Gehling of Carroll, Nelda Wolterman of Carroll, Pam (John) McCaslin of Omaha; one brother, Darwin (Kay) Schulte of West Des Moines; her sister-in-law, Elsie Boes of Fontanelle; as well as other extended relatives.
She was preceded in death by, her parents, Edmund and Agnes Schulte, parents-in-law Joseph and Apolonia Boes; her sister-in-law Joann Schulte, and her brother-in-law, Elmer Wolterman.
