Donna Mae White, age 78, of Carroll, Iowa, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll. Officiating will be the Pastor David Anthony and Pastor Brian Licht. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 A.M. Tuesday to lie in state until the time of the services. Organist will be Janet Hoff. Casket Bearers will be Al Bock, Doug Bock, Larry Bock, Roger Bock, Ed Launderville, and Neil Lerssen. Burial will be at the Carroll City Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 5 P.M. Monday. There will be a prayer service at 7 P.M. Monday at the funeral home.
Mrs. White was born on November 28, 1931, at Lidderdale, Iowa, the daughter of Chris and Marie Sophia (Hein) Subbert. She spent her lifetime in the Lidderdale and Carroll communities and graduated from Carroll High School. Prior to her marriage she was employed at several Carroll businesses, most notably the Woolworth Department Store and B. & H. Super Valu Store. On February 20, 1961, she was united in marriage to Floyd White, Jr. in Carroll. The couple made their home in Carroll and Donna was a homemaker and wonderful mother. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, St. Paul Women’s Guild, and the Thursday Bible Class. Donna dearly loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren, and enjoyed singing and dancing.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd White, Jr. of Carroll; a daughter, Joni Vonnahme and husband Dewey of Carroll; her sons, Jim F. White and wife Joelle of Carroll, and Jack White and wife Janelle of St. Joseph, Michigan; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; her sisters, Arlene Kusel and husband Glen of Manning, and Jeanette Lerssen and husband Don of Manning; and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Subbert of Carroll, Phyllis Subbert of Glidden, Chuck White of Carroll, and Doc White of Carroll.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Howard Subbert, Wayne Subbert, and Paul Subbert, in infancy; sisters, Bernice Launderville, LaVonne Bock, and a twin sister, Dorris Fay Subbert, in infancy; and by her parents-in-law, Floyd and Frances White, Sr.
