Dolores Snyder, 89 of Carroll, died Friday, January 6, 2012 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Johnson. Music will be by Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Choir. Soloist for the mass will be Dolores’ granddaughter, Kathy Halbur. Lectors for the funeral mass will be granddaughters: Sheila Higgins, Cheryl Rosen, and Kristy Ball. Gift Bearers will be Dolores’ great-grandchildren. Eucharistic Ministers will be Dolores’ sons: Robert Snyder and Darrell Snyder. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Dolores’ grandchildren. Casket Bearers will be Dolores’ grandchildren: Anthony Snyder, Steve Pawletzki, Loren Boyce, Rodney Hoffman, John Reinart, Ken Snyder, Ryan Broich, Christopher Snyder, and Brenda Grote. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4:30 p.m. Monday where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service by the parish at 7 p.m. The casket will be moved to Holy Spirit Church at 9 a.m. Tuesday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on April 20, 1922 at Arcadia, Iowa, Dolores was the daughter of Herman and Mary (Henkenius) Imming. She spent her younger years in the Arcadia Community and attended St. John School. On February 10, 1941 she married Norbert J. Snyder at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Carroll. Following their marriage they farmed in the Mt. Carmel and Maple River area and in 1970 they moved to Carroll. From 1974 -1976 they owned and operated a motel in Ames. Dolores was also employed in the housekeeping department at St. Anthony Regional Hospital for 20 years. She enjoyed sewing, fishing, gardening and playing cards. Dolores was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll, and Parish Ladies Guild.
Survivors include her children: Robert (Agatha) Snyder of Des Moines, Jean (Paul) Pawletzki of Arcadia, Kay (Larry) Boyce of Carroll, Diane (Cliff) Hoffman of Carroll, Shirley Hansen of Urbandale, Sharon Wilson of Carroll, Darrell (Meg) Snyder of Breda, Denise Neumann of Ankeny, and Daniel (Cori) Snyder of Chino, CA; 27 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Elaine Dentlinger of Carroll; one brother, Art (Bealah) Imming of Fonda; one sister-in-law, Eileen Imming of Ft. Dodge; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norbert in December 1977; granddaughters: Mary Ann Hoffman and Joanna Reinart; sons-in-law: Virgil Hansen and Daryl Neumann; sister, Stella Schulte; and brothers: Elmer, Merle, Herbert, Melvin, and Marvin Imming.
