Deborah Bruning, age 50, of Columbia, Missouri, formerly of Carroll, died Monday, April 21, 2008 at the St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll, following a long battle with cancer. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Friday, April 25, 2008, at the Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father James McCormick. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 A.M. Friday to lie in state until the time of the funeral mass. The lector will be Marilyn Foley. Gift Bearers will be Robin Bruning and Deb Bruning. Eucharistic Ministers will be Marilyn Foley and Cleo Garrison. Casket Bearers will be Darrick Bruning, Ricky Bruning, Bo Bruning, Heather Bruning, Randy Beyer, and Art Rigg. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. Thursday. A rosary will be prayed at 3 P.M. Thursday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7:00 P.M. Thursday by the Holy Spirit Parish. Miss Bruning was born on June 8, 1957, at Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Raymond and Wilma (Truhe) Bruning. Debbie grew up in Carroll and attended Holy Spirit School and Kuemper High School. Following high school she worked at New Hope Village for eight years. Debbie then moved to Columbia, Missouri and managed Okland Plaza Lanes Lounge for 20 years. Presently, she was working at Shear Perfection Salon as a receptionist. She was a former member of Holy Spirit Parish in Carroll. Survivors include her mother, Wilma Bruning of Carroll, two brothers, Rick Bruning and his wife Deb of Breda, and Denny Bruning and his wife Robin of Carroll, a special friend, Art Rigg of Columbia, MO, four nieces and nephews, and one great niece. She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Bruning, in June 1998, her grandparents, and a nephew, Jason Bruning in 2001.
