David Schirck, age 51, of Templeton, Iowa, died Saturday, February 6, 2010, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll of natural causes.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 A.M. Wednesday to lie in state until the time of the funeral mass. Lector will be Joann Brincks. Gift Bearers will be Scott and Mickie Rupiper. Music will be provided by organist Barb McDermott and the Holy Spirit Adult Choir. Casket Bearers will be Eric Wunschel, Tim Hinners, Doug Templer, Rick Gute, Rick Eighmy, and Travis Walters. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. Tuesday. A rosary will be prayed at 3 P.M. Tuesday. There will be a Christina wake service at 7 P.M. Tuesday by Holy Spirit Parish.
David was born on May 14, 1958, at Carroll, Iowa, the son of Earl L. and Laura M. (Hugeback) Schirck. He spent most of his lifetime in the Carroll area and attended St. Lawrence School and graduated from Carroll High School in 1977. Following high school he worked for the Garst Seed Company in Coon Rapids. He entered the U.S. Army in 1979 and served overseas in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1989. From August 1990 until June 2001 he was employed by the Farmland Foods Company in Carroll. From July 2001 until the present day he was employed in the Cold Dock Department at the Farner-Bocken Company in Carroll. David enjoyed fishing, camping, fixing things, grilling, playing cards, country western music, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his sisters, Helen Baumhover and her husband Randy of St. Charles, Missouri, Carol Schirck of Carroll, Nancy Berbner and her husband John of Kent, Washington, Martha DeWitt and her husband James of Waukee, Janet Gute and her husband Rick of Glidden, Lois Schirck of Carroll, and Diane Schirck of Carroll; and a brother, Duane Schirck of Carroll.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dale Schirck; a niece, Michele Schirck; and by his grandparents, Louis and Marie Hugeback and Leonard and Martha Schirck.
