Chad Lenz, age 30, of rural Carroll, Iowa, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at West Lake Okoboji, Iowa.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7 P.M., Thursday, July 1, 2010, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott. Lectors will be Angie Hunt and Ross Pudenz. Gift Bearers will be Chad’s siblings, Scott Lenz, Julie Vessel, and Janelle Lenz. Mass Servers will be Reed Knobbe, Ryan Knobbe, and Miriah Masching. Eucharistic Ministers will be Maury Lenz and Bev Bruning. Casket Bearers will be Tom “Zip” Masching, Brandon Snyder, Eric Steinkamp, Joel Tigges, Mike Kroeger, and Wes Bierl. Private graveside services will be held Friday at Holy Family Cemetery in Lidderdale.
Visitation will be from 4 P.M. until 7 P.M. Thursday at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be left at the Church in Chad’s name.
Chad was born on August 12, 1979, at Carroll, Iowa, the son of Ray and Carol (Meehan) Lenz. He attended Christ the King School and graduated from Kuemper High School. He then received a business degree from Des Moines Area Community College in Carroll. On December 27, 2003, he was married to Sara Pudenz at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The couple made their home north of Carroll and Chad was co-owner of the Lenz Insurance and Real Estate Company and was active in the family farm operation. He was a member of Holy Family Parish at Lidderdale. He enjoyed his family and friends, boating, snowmobiling, slow pitch softball, playing golf, and Nascar racing. Chad was an active member of his community. He loved life and lived life to the fullest, always trying to help those who needed help.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Lenz of Carroll; his children, Madeline Lenz and Jack Lenz at home; his parents, Ray and Carol Lenz of Carroll; a brother, Scott Lenz and wife Jodi of Carroll; his sisters, Julie Vessel and husband Paul of Edina, Minn. and Janelle Lenz of Ankeny; his father and mother-in-law, David and Nancy Pudenz of Auburn; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ryan Pudenz and wife Angie Hunt of Ames and Ross Pudenz and wife Hanna of Durand, Wisc.; and nieces and nephews, Carolyn Vessel, Amelia Vessel, Taylor Pudenz, and Troy Pudenz.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward and Lillian Lenz and Floyd and Grace Meehan.
