Carl Schultes, age 88, of Carroll, Iowa, died Thursday, August 7, 2008, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 A.M., Monday, August 11, 2008, at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Schott. Lector will be granddaughters, Amy Jones and Angie Macke. Gift Bearers will be daughters, Sue Seeden, Jolene Andersen, and Deb Schultes, and god daughter, Tracy Hinners. Mass Servers will be a granddaughter, Nicol Schultes, and Nolan Schultes. Eucharistic Ministers will be Kevin Schultes, Melissa Schultes, and Gary Sporrer. Casket Bearers will be grandsons, Tony Schultes, Ben Schultes, Nick Schultes, Nathan Seeden, Andrew Peacock, and Jacob Schultes. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. Sunday. A rosary will be prayed at 3 P.M. Sunday. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Sunday by St. Lawrence Parish. Mr. Schultes was born on April 30, 1920, at Dedham, Iowa, the son of John J. and Catherine (Weitl) Schultes. He spent most of his lifetime in the Dedham community and attended St. Joseph School. On April 24, 1945, he was married to Regina Renze at Holy Angels Church in Roselle with Father Louis Anthofer officiating. The couple farmed northwest of Dedham until 1992 when they moved to their home in Carroll. Mr. Schultes was a grain and livestock farmer. He was a member of St. Lawrence Parish and enjoyed his family, visiting with his friends, farming, playing cards, and St. Louis Cardinal baseball. Survivors include his wife, Regina Schultes of Carroll; children, Sue Seeden and her husband Harold of Glidden, Duane Schultes and his wife Barbara of Carroll, Jolene Andersen and her husband Mike of Scottsdale, Ariz., Dennis Schultes and his wife Barb of Dedham, Randy Schultes and his wife Jane of Carroll, Richard Schultes and his wife Denise of Dedham, Ronald Schultes of Dedham, Deb Schultes of Des Moines, Kevin Schultes of Dedham, and Paul Schultes and his wife Christine of St. Louis, Missouri; 23 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Leo Renze of Carroll; and sister-in-law, Loretta Schultes of Templeton. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Schultes, in infancy; grandchildren, Samantha Jo Schultes and Carter Jay Schultes; brothers, John I. Schultes and William F. Schultes and his wife Rose; and a sister, Zita Renze.
