Betty Anderson, 73 of Carroll, died Tuesday morning, April 26, 2016 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll surrounded by her family following a brave battle with myelodysplastic syndrome and leukemia.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Craig Collison. Con-Celebrant and homilist will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Mass servers will be Maddie and Meredith Werden. Pianist for the funeral mass will be Kate Cuddy. Cantors will be Jake Gute and Steve Anderson. Flutists will be Diane Odendahl and Melissa Odendahl. Lector will be Denny Schleisman. Gift Bearers will be Collin and Carson Anderson. Eucharistic Ministers will be Cheryl Lang and Bryan Baumhover. Honorary Casket Bearers will be: Ron Schechtman, Ron Eich, Mike Greteman, Jim Greteman, Matt Greteman, Dave Greteman, Amy Platt, Ann Fitzpatrick, Lisa Stoelk, Brett Adams and Shellie Haluska. Casket Bearers will be: Pat Nepple, Greg Odendahl, Paul Reiling, Kevin Baumhover, Darrell Liechti, and Bryan Baumhover. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in St. Ann’s Cemetery in Vail. The St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary will form an honor guard for the funeral mass.
Friends may call at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Friday where there will be a rosary at 5 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at noon on Saturday at the church until time of the funeral mass.

Born on February 19, 1943 at Carroll, Iowa, Betty was the daughter of George and Florence (Schoeppner) Odendahl. She spent her younger years on the family farm north of Carroll and attended St. Lawrence Grade School and Kuemper Catholic High School.
On January 18, 1964, Betty was united in marriage to Wayne Anderson at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple made their home on a farm north of Vail. Betty was a devoted farm wife and also worked part-time for several businesses in the Carroll area. Following Wayne’s retirement from farming they moved to Carroll. Betty enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and coworkers. She was a strong supporter of Kuemper Catholic Schools and also had a deep devotion to her faith as a former member of St. Ann’s Church in Vail and was currently a member of St. Lawrence Church in Carroll.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Wayne of Carroll; her children: David (Renee) Anderson of Carroll, Mike (Carol) Anderson of Vermillion, MN and Kim (Brad) Honold of Coon Rapids; 4 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; her siblings: Rose Marie (Don) Reiling of Storm Lake, Mardy (Denny) Snyder of Carroll, Alice (Gerald) Baumhover of Carroll, Mary (Ron) Reineke of Omaha, Norma (Denny) Schleisman of Carroll and John (Diane) Odendahl of Carroll; her sisters-in-law: Jeanett Liechti of Arcadia and Zelda Anderson of Arcadia; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Wayne Nepple, Earl Liechti, Elvin Anderson, Betty Amundson, Verna Ludwig, Bill Ludwig and Ray Gerken.
