Bernard “Bernie” Wells, 86 of Carroll, died late Thursday evening at his home in Carroll surrounded by his family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, November 9, 2015 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Craig Collison. Music will be by Marcy Anderson, St. Lawrence Choir with Sherry Loughran as cantor. Lector for the funeral mass will be Louanne Kustra. Gift Bearers will be Larry and Dianne Feltner. Eucharistic Minister will be Ann Christiansen. Honorary Casket Bearers will be: Jed Bengard, Rick Lenzen, Steve Danner, Clair Otto, Larry Nelson, and Steve Hanna. Casket Bearers will be: Tony Weaver, Michael Rosenthal, Bryan Bock, Mile Randolph, Casey Randolph, Justin Hunter, Clint Brotherton and Mike Feltner. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a rosary at 3 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 5 p.m.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 9 a.m. on Monday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on May 21, 1929 at Halbur, Iowa, Bernard Wells was the son of Fred and Elizabeth (Schmitz) Wells. He spent his early childhood years near Halbur and his family later moved to Coon Rapids where Bernie attended school.
On December 13, 1948 Bernie was united in marriage to Marguerite “Copee” Holley at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Carroll. The couple made their home in Carroll where Bernie was employed in the meat department at Fareway Foods and later Safeway Foods. Bernie then began working for Carroll Community Schools as a mechanic until his retirement.
In retirement he loved golfing, hunting, fishing, cooking, and doing car restoration work. Bernie was an avid Iowa State Cyclones fan. His greatest love and joy in life was his family. Bernie was a member of St. Lawrence Church in Carroll.
Bernie Wells is survived by his wife Marguerite “Copee” Wells of Carroll; his children: Michael (Karolyn) Wells of Altoona, Laura (Dan) Monen of Omaha, Dave (Dawan) Wells of Portales, NM, Maureen “Eenie” (Allen) Bock of Carroll, Jennifer Randolph of Council Bluffs, Katie Dozler of Carroll, and Melissa (Marvin) Rosenthal of Omaha; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; his sister: Mary (Bob) Kloser of Carroll; his brother, Francis “Bud” Wells of Carroll; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Allen (Mary) Holley of Bellevue, NE and Rosemary Niceswanger of Carroll; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Bernie was preceded in death by his parents: his son and daughter-in-law: Kenny and Loretta Wells; his son-in-law, George Dozler; his sister, Evelyn Wille; and his brothers-in-law: Wayne Niceswanger and Elmer Wille.
