Annabelle Von Bon, 85 of Dedham, died Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. The Celebrant will be Fr. Andrew Hoffmann, assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Mass Servers will be Nathan and Jayden Heinrichs. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and the St. Joseph’s Choir. Lectors will be Amy Joneson, Laura Meade, and Jenna Lucas. Gift Bearers will be Alyssa Kenville, and Mary Schroeder. Eucharistic Ministers will be Mary Schoeppner, and Linda Sporrer. Honorary Casket Bearers will be John Carman, Jason Putney, Chris Meade, and Nick Schroeder. Casket Bearers will be Ben Klocke, Ross Klocke, Eric Joneson, Matt Lucas, Clint Holtz, and Charles Kenville. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 p.m. on Friday, where there will be a Rosary prayed at 5 p.m., and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:30 p.m.
The casket will be moved to St. Joseph Church at 9 a.m. on Saturday, where visitation will resume until the time of the funeral mass.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be left at the funeral home or at the church to be directed to the St. Anthony Nursing Home Alzheimer’s Unit, Dedham City Park, or Kuemper Catholic – Holy Spirit Elementary School.

Born on March 9, 1930 at Coon Rapids, Iowa, Annabelle was the daughter of Edward and Elsie (Wallis) Patrick. Annabelle received her education in the Coon Rapids Community School, graduating in 1947. She attended Iowa State Teacher’s College, now the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa where she graduated with her teaching certificate. She began her teaching career in the Dedham Independent School.
On June 5, 1950 Annabelle was united in marriage to Delbert Von Bon at the St. Joseph’s Rectory in Dedham. The Von Bon’s lived in Dedham, Carroll, and Maple River before returning to Dedham in 1955. Over the years Annabelle taught school at Dedham Independent Schools, Gray Consolidated School, Ewoldt #6 School, Washington #4 School, St. Joseph’s School in Dedham, and St. Mary’s School in Willey. In 1970 she began teaching in the Carroll Community School District as a Title I reading teacher. In 1985, at the age of 55 Annabelle completed her Bachelor’s Degree. After teaching for thirty-eight years, Annabelle retired in 1992.
Annabelle enjoyed her winters camping in Texas, her Nickelodeon Card Club, and watching college basketball. She was known for her homemade bread, rolls, and buns. Most of all she enjoyed her family and the young families in Dedham. When she was on her porch swing, she always appreciated the people stopping by on their walks so she could talk with them and to see their kids in the strollers. Seeing her former students was always special to her. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Ladies Guild, and St. Joseph’s Parish.
Left to celebrate Annabelle’s life are her children: Diane (Dr. Rick) Joneson of Carroll, Jim (Marge) Von Bon of Granger, Ken (Jeanine) Von Bon of Granger, and Karen (Dave) Klocke of Templeton; her grandchildren: Alyssa (Charles) Kenville, Erin (John) Carman, Amy (Jason) Putney, Eric Joneson, Jenna (Matt) Lucas, Laura (Chris) Meade, Ben Klocke, Katie (Clint) Holtz, Mary (Nick) Schroeder, and Ross Klocke; eighteen great-grandchildren; her sister: Joan (James) Campbell of Council Bluffs; her sisters-in-law: June Patrick of Des Moines, Jean Patrick of Des Moines, Kathleen Horner of Des Moines, and Mary Smith of Little Rock, AR; her brother-in-law: Ron (Nancy) Von Bon of Guthrie Center, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Annabelle was preceded in death by her parents; husband Delbert in 2007; her sister: Bernice (Merle) Pomeroy; her brothers: Howard (Betty) Patrick, Ralph Patrick, Paul (Betty) Patrick, Delbert Patrick, Jon Patrick, and Roy Patrick; her brothers-in-law: Darrell Smith, and Jack (Doris) Von Bon.
