Anna Danner, age 95, of Willey, Iowa, died Saturday, July 30, 2011, at Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at St. Mary Church in Willey. The Celebrant will be Father Timothy Johnson. Lector will be Mrs. Danner’s son, William Danner, Jr. Gift Bearers will be her daughters, Anna Mae Danner, Doris Pawol, and LaVonne Boetel. Mass Servers will be great grandsons, Kyle Danner, Alex Danner, and Chase Danner. Organist will be a daughter-in-law, Barbara Danner. Vocalists will be granddaughters, Michelle Shook, Christina Hicks, Rebecca Clark, and Elizabeth Danner. A great granddaughter, Emily Shook will play the trumpet. Eucharistic Ministers will be Dianne Danner, Lorraine Danner, and LaVerne Greving. Honorary Pallbearers will be Andy Schmitz, Louis Schmitz, Ed Danzer, Kenny Danzer, Mark Soyer, and Jerome Gute. Casket Bearers will be grandsons, Joe Danner, Charles Danner, Mike Danner, Martin Danner, Keith Boetel, and Steve Boetel. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Willey. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 4 P.M. Monday. A rosary will be prayed at 5 P.M. Monday followed by a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Monday by St. Mary Parish.
Anna was born on June 25, 1916, at Willey, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Katherine (Renze) Greving. She spent her lifetime in the Willey community and graduated from St. Mary School. Following her formal education she helped her family on the farm. Anna and William W. Danner, Sr. were united in marriage on January 7, 1941, at St. Mary Church in Willey with Father Herman Dries officiating. The couple spent their married life on the family farm northeast of Willey. Anna was a homemaker and helped with the farm chores. She was a life long member of St. Mary Parish and St. Mary Ladies Guild. Anna enjoyed sewing, quilting, family events, cake decorating, and gardening.
Anna is survived by her children, Anna Mae Danner of Omaha, Nebr., Doris Pawol of Sun City, Ariz., Loren Danner and his wife Pan of Carroll, William Danner Jr. and his wife Barbara of Carroll, and LaVonne Boetel of Manhattan, Kansas; a daughter-in-law, Dianne Danner of Carroll; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; a brother, Bernard H. “Butch” Greving of Carroll; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Betty Danner of Dedham, Peter Jr. and Dorothy Danner of Carroll, Lorrine Danner of Templeton, and Lorraine Danner of Carroll.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William W. Danner Sr., in November 2008; her son, Marvin Danner; a grandson, Aaron Danner; sons-in-law, Jim Pawol and Gordon Boetel; and four sisters, Mary Dorpinghaus, Josephine Hahn, Joanna Hoffman, and Bernadine Baumgartner.
