Ann Renze, 73 of Carroll, died Saturday, April 13, 2013 at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy Schott. Mass servers will be Ann’s grandsons, Henry and Charlie Renze. Music will be provided by Marcy Anderson and the St. Lawrence Choir. Song leader will be Jean Knobbe. Lectors for the funeral mass will be Ann’s nieces, Sharon Vickery and Lisa Renze-Rhodes. Gift Bearers will be Ann’s son and daughter-in-law Kevin and Janet Renze. Eucharistic Ministers will be: Ann Christiansen, Bonnie Danner, and Shirley Molitor. Casket Bearers will be Ann’s sons, Mike Renze and Steven Renze; nephew Curtis Renze; and Jim Berger, Wayne Reiman, and Ray Sigwalt. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday where there will be a Legion of Mary rosary at 4 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass.

Born on November 1, 1939 at Carroll, Iowa, Anna Marie was the daughter of Peter and Christine (Becker) Berger. She spent her younger years in the Mt. Carmel area and attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Grade School and graduated in 1957 from Mt. Carmel High School. Following her formal education, Ann worked for the Carroll County State Bank as a bank teller. On October 19, 1963 she married Phil Renze at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Phil and Ann made their home in Carroll where they raised their three sons. In 1973 Ann began working at St. Lawrence School where she was a school secretary for 23 years. She then worked at Walmart as a cashier for 13 years until her retirement. Ann enjoyed flowers, gardening and sharing the fruits of her labors with family and friends. She enjoyed arts, crafts, playing cards and was in a bridge club for many years. Ann’s greatest joy was her family. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, and Legion of Mary.
Survivors include her husband Phil Renze of Carroll; three sons: Mike Renze of Ames and friend, Judy Vonnahme, Steven Renze of St. Louis, MO, and Kevin Renze and wife Janet (Nieland) and their children, Henry and Charlie of Mitchellville, MD; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Cleo (LaVerne) Heithoff of Grimes, and Loren (Lucy) Renze of Estherville; as well as several nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; two siblings in infancy; and her parents-in-law, Clem and Clara Renze.
