Angela Riesberg

Angela Riesberg, age 90 of Carroll, died Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at Mable Rose Estates in Papillion, Nebraska. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 10, 2012 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Timothy R. Schott. Music will be by Marcy Anderson and the St. Lawrence Choir. Lectors will be Angela’s sons: Dale and Kent Riesberg. Gift Bearers will be Angela’s granddaughters: Danielle Riesberg, Kayleen Collins, Katie Anderson, Rhonda Brunson, Janice Riesberg, Rachel Riesberg and Amanda Riesberg. Eucharistic Ministers will be daughter and son-in-law Kathy and Jim Golwitzer and son Richard Riesberg. Casket Bearers will be Angela’s grandsons: Patrick and Douglas Riesberg, Kevin Huebert, Matt and Jay Golwitzer, Jeremiah and Joshua Riesberg, Andrew Riesberg and Adam Riesberg. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m., Friday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m., and a Christian Wake Service at 6:30 p.m., by St. Lawrence Parish. The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday where visitation will resume until time of the funeral mass. Memorials may be made to the Lester and Angela Riesberg Kuemper Scholarship fund or St. Lawrence Parish and may be left at the funeral home or the church in Angela’s name. Online condolences may be left for Angela’s family at www.sharpfuneral.com. Born on February 17, 1922 in Halbur, Iowa, Angela was the daughter of Phillip and Catherine (Eischeid) Dentlinger. She spent her childhood in the Halbur area and attended St. Augustine School. On April 18, 1944, Angela was united in marriage to Lester Riesberg in Halbur Iowa. They made their home in Carroll, Iowa for 63 years and were blessed with six children. Angela’s life was devoted as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Angela's occupations included owner of Carroll Courtesy for around 10 years and a cook at Kuemper High School for over 25 years. She was a volunteer at New Hope Village, Cub Scout leader, and was a member of St. Lawrence Parish where she was active in the ladies guild and parish choir. Her hobbies included quilting, bridge, embroidery, gardening and bird watching. She is survived by her children: Dale (Karen) Riesberg of Crofton, NE, Sharon (Dallan) Huebert of Omaha, NE, Kathleen (James) Golwitzer of Keller, TX, Kent (Karen) Riesberg of Papillion, NE, Richard (Eunice) Riesberg or Grundy Center, IA, and Roger (Paula) Riesberg of Grand Island, NE; 16 grandchildren: Patrick Riesberg, Douglas Riesberg, Danielle Riesberg, Kevin Huebert, Kayleen Collins, Katie Anderson, Matt Golwitzer, Rhonda Brunson, Jay Golwitzer, Jeremiah Riesberg, Joshua Riesberg, Janice Riesberg, Andrew Riesberg, Rachel Riesberg, Adam Riesberg and Amanda Riesberg; 8 great-grandchildren; her brother, James (Rita) Dentlinger of Glidden, her sisters, Gladys Halbur, of Halbur and Jeanette Venner of Carroll , her brothers-in-law Clarence Fischer of Carroll , Anthony (Rose) Riesberg of Carroll; her sisters-in-law Elaine Dentlinger of Carroll, Lillian Ferneding of Carroll, and Irma Grote of Carroll; as well as many nieces and nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Lester who passed away July 25, 2011; her twin sister Agatha Fischer and brother Jereome Dentlinger: her brothers-in-law Vincent Halbur, Edward Venner, Clarence Riesberg, Walter Riesberg, Andrew Riesberg, Fr. Leo Riesberg, Hilbert Riesberg; Paul Ferneding, Maurice Glass, Bernard Willenborg, Vincent Schweers, and Paul Grote; her sisters in-law: Martha Riesberg, Hilda Riesberg, Hiltrude Riesberg, Elizabeth Willenborg and Helen Schweers.
