Alvina E Rotert, 79 of Storm Lake, formerly of Carroll, died Wednesday morning, November 23, 2016 at the North Lake Manor in Storm Lake, IA.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2016 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Fr. Craig Collison. Music will be provided by Marcy Anderson, and the St. Lawrence Choir, with Kathleen Macke as cantor. Lector will be Nicole Beshey. Gift Bearers will be Jodi Vanden Bosch, Cassandra Wetzel, Davianne Rotert, and Cherie Masterson. Casket Bearers will be Travis Flink, Scott D. Robbins, Nathanial Robbins, Aaron Rotert, Reis Rotert, and Tucker Rotert. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Dedham.
Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3 p.m. on Sunday where there will be a rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 5 p.m.
The casket will be moved to St. Lawrence Church on Monday morning where visitation will resume at 9:30 a.m. and continue until time of the funeral mass.

Born on May 27, 1937 at Dedham IA, daughter of John L and Clara (Heman) Golwitzer. She spent her younger years near the Dedham community where she also attended school. After her schooling, Alvina worked as a nurse aide at St Anthony Hospital in Carroll IA. On May 29, 1958, she was united in marriage to Norbert Rotert at St Joseph Church in Bode IA. The couple made their home in the Carroll area. Alvina worked several different jobs over the years, including school janitor, maid, and nurse aide. She retired around 1998 due to health issues.
Alvina loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to watch and listen to Reba McEntire. She loved watching Chuck Norris, John Wayne and Little House on the Prairie. Her favorite song was Ave Maria. Alvina was a member of St Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll.
Left to celebrate Alvina’s life are her children: Anna Mae (Scott) Robbins of Rembrandt IA, Phillip of Templeton IA, Timothy (Sherri) of Omaha NE, Craig of Ames IA, her 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one sister Regina Vogt of Rochester MN, one brother Clarence (Mary Ann) of Wesley IA, her brother and sister in laws: Theresa Golwitzer of Algona IA, Leon (Monica) Rotert of Carroll IA, Dorothy Riesberg of Carroll IA, Rosemary (Robert) Pottebaum of Halbur IA, Ruth (Alan) Kokenge of Halbur IA, Theresa Soppe of Templeton IA Mary Lou Rotert of Papillion NE, and many nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.
Alvina was preceded in death by her parents, husband Norbert, daughter Jean Marie; her siblings: Fred Golwitzer, Arnold Golwitzer, Leonard Golwitzer, Martha Hagedorn, Nora Pottebaum, John Golwitzer and Leona Drees.
